For far too long I've noticed an increased risk of users that are using gbatemp as a way to vent mental health crisis. I'm not against this persay as someone that has spent many years of my life battling mental health disorders I haven't really gone public about but also have no issue showing evidence towards.
The issues I'm worried about, gbatemp is a gaming community, we don't have specialized users trained in mental health medical fields, let alone medical issues. The end user can easily take offense, rather that's not being able to differentiate a user joking or they can't detect the mood of text vs someone actually speaking to them in person that understands it all too well. Unless it's a user you specifically trust keeping it to PMs should be sufficient.
Especially in 2026, where alot of misinformation is publicly shared and the end user might start thinking oh I have this and that without even bothering to listen to actual 1on1 trained professionals.
Furthermore it can be dangerous, if they get the wrong user that's actually threatening them 24/7 or just giving unmoral advice such as "end it all"
Sometimes a soft ban help users self reflect that can't fully understand how they stir the pot when it comes to users with mental health issues. I feel as if some people that claim to have mental health issues even use it as a feel sorry for me tactic rather than them actually doing anything to get better help offline. These rules shouldn't be added as a personal feelings issues but more so as a way for the community to say we want you to seek professional help without them taking offense.
It's always hard to tell who is being 100% honest online to begin with.
