is it normal that the RTC just resets to 12 AM occasionally?
12AM exactly? That sounds like a bug. When the battery is dead, I believe the time just stops being updated when the console is off. The battery drains pretty fast though, so if it's not precisely 12AM each and every time, it may just be a dead battery.

yes its always 12 AM that it resets back to

is it normal that the RTC just resets to 12 AM occasionally? Asking because i wasn't sure if this was a problem with this kernel or
my RTC battery dying as I've only had this cart for about a year so I thought it should have life in it.

I've only seen this happen with this kernel on the later versions like 7.3 and 7.4.

Your RTC battery is dying. If you have an Omega Definitive Edition it's a simple swap with another CR1025 cell. The original Omega uses a soldered CR1220. If you're not playing games that rely on the RTC then I'd suggest turning it off in the settings, because the battery is very low capacity and only lasts 1-2 years.

Oh okay, thank you.

Bug Report: On the DE edition, from what I've tested, (I do not own a non DE flashcart), the entire thing crashes whenever you click "A" on an empty favorites tab. could you please look into this?

Thank you for reporting this!

this theme is so beautiful, im not too well versed in flashcarts but i have an everdrive gba pro, is there any chance it could ever be ported to it?
I would really love to port it. Right now it's not possible because the EverDrive kernels aren't open source like the EZ Flash kernels.

I have a folder with many games, but browser only displays 288. I have a EZ-flash omega with a SD card of 16GB, formatted on FAT32 and 32KB cluster

You’ve reached the file limit for a single folder with the EZ Flash menu system. You’ll need to split your games into separate folders.

That's wierd, in the original menu, limit was 512 or so
I have read people reporting lower limits depending on various factors, but I just tested it myself and I hit the exact same 288 limit as you. I'll look into why it's now lower and hopefully will have it fixed for the new version. Thank you for reporting this, sorry for being dismissive, I was going off of memory. It's likely from when I was trying to squeeze as much usable RAM while testing new features.

Thanks for this the person i made the mod for, did not mention any of this but then again i dont think they really tested this "in all formats" i will see what i can do .. Really i migth just go back to the Cheat Engine\Savestate fix only and leave the optimizations along. Unless i get one for my self . Since then i can actualy test the Optimizations :( Will see what i can do to fix this bug ..

im guessing everything worked up to the first reset ?
Sorry for the delay, I was out of town.

Yea, it worked fine when I first booted it up and when I hit reset to try a different game, it started blinking like in the video.

Thanks for testing the fix and letting me know it works :) I will update the git for this version..

Hi all, DS Style v7.4 is here!

This update took a little longer because I wanted to give bugs time to surface. Interestingly, investigating a folder file limit bug led to a much more important discovery.

A change inherited from SimpleDE's PogoShell launch code meant that the standard quick boot (skipping the GBA BIOS) on the Omega DE was not clearing all temporary GBA memory before starting a game. Most games appeared unaffected, which allowed the issue to go unnoticed. However, Cars, the game I happened to use while testing folders with hundreds of files, would often black-screen or launch without sound unless full BIOS Boot was used.

Quick boot now follows the stock kernel's memory-reset behaviour, bringing game compatibility back in line with the official firmware. The Original Omega already used the correct reset path and was unaffected.

Other changes in v7.4:
  • Added a new text and Markdown viewer with a clean English interface, light and dark modes, faster navigation, headings, bold text and dividers.
  • Added optional wide and square folder artwork for every emulated system supported by DS Style.
  • Fixed a crash when pressing A in an empty Recently Played or Favourites screen.
  • Restored support for up to 512 files in a folder while reducing launcher RAM usage.
  • Fixed a bug causing RECENT.txt corruption
The DS Style Customiser has also been updated to v2.1 for DS Style v7.4. It can now change the UI font using several GBA-ready bitmap fonts, with an accurate preview and support for existing or converted projects.

The Analogue Style and Simple Style bonus themes have also been rebuilt for v7.4.

Thank you to everyone who reported issues!

Nice update.
It's a shame that the assets I had for the Yoshi theme i used were lost when my SSD stopped working. :c

This is so beautiful, thank you :)
This alone makes the original EZ Flash Omega DE the best gba flashcart currently.
I hope they will also release the source code for the blue revision at some point!

@FrankieT19 > looks good :)

Seems we still have a small bug inside the Savestates . :( Also if you want to give your self some "Space" you can remove the Built in Patches system, and make it Folder set up (Load from Folder). Iv recently updated "not yet on Git" to match your 7.4 (1.99 MB) version, with a Condenced 1.76 MB (1.79 without the removal of the Patches) file now

Thank you for this great project! A few suggestions:

1. It would’ve been great if there was a setting to quickly boot a game with the add-ons enabled without showing the boot menu, however if there were any issues, one could quickly open the menu with a button to turn the problematic add-ons off before booting the game

2. The Analogue-inspired theme looks awesome! It would have been great if the game list itself also followed this minimalistic “round” design (look at the screenshot). The GBA console icon also seems superfluous in the list view

3. It would’ve been stylistically better if there was no EZ-FLASH boot logo —just the boot logo of a currently chosen theme

4. I don’t know if this is the expected behavior but if you turn the show the Start menu option off, when resetting a game you would boot to this game again instead of seeing recently played games even if this setting was enabled

5. Some colors profiles with the Analogue theme make the menu impossible to navigate because you cannot see everything (maybe focus only on the “custom” option?)

6. Rumble strength setting

7. I know this is very unlikely, but it would’ve been a dream come true, if there was an option to universally patch games, so that the colors of older GBA titles would look good on newer screens, more info: https://www.retrogameboards.com/t/p...-backlit-screen-looks-wrong-am-i-alone/1623/4

I've been wishing for this for so long, I even spent a bunch of time trying to see if there would be any way to change it.

Unfortunately the EZ-Flash graphic is part of the bootloader, not the kernel or the firmware, so as far as I can tell it's unchangeable.

It's theoretically possible that the region of the cart where it's stored is writeable, but unless someone does a rom dump of the cart it's not worth the risk of bricking a cartridge to test it.
