Got it to work!

10.3 Canadian(so basically US) Launch n3DS XL

My steps:
1. Verify MD5 checksum to prevent bricks in relation to files.
2. Use this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...ngrading-your-3ds.407888/page-95#post-5923820
3. Take out battery for a few secs and then put it back in.
4. Run menuhax from system settings.
5. Open FTP-3DS and exit with B (tried several times with the L+R+Down+B, no dice, B worked first try)
6. Open sysUpdater.
7. If you see options, press Y, and wait about 2 minutes. If you see a black screen or nothing happens for several minutes after pressing Y, reboot and try again.
8. Cross your fingers.
9. ???
10. Profit.

Edit: I should mention that I tried another build and got a "failed to get CIA info error". If you are getting that error, try the build I linked.

I had to try this over and over until eventually worked just keep shutting down and reopen it all again eventually it'll work good luck

1 format console
2 format micro sd with SDFormatter
take sysnandupdater in post https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-the-simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888/ page 95
install ninjhax 2.5 and run homebrew with oot3dhax 7 or 8 tries
when finish i waiting 7 min, power off remove sd and done.

ive downgraded 3 n3ds XL so far... and following the same method... i used menuhax to directly boot to HB and then select sysupdater... v0.42b ... the last 3ds was a problematic one... it would always freeze and the closest i would get was the complete menu with corrupted text.... so i removed some HB apps so that i wouldnt have to scroll as far and it ended up working....

from what i can see that usually goes wrong for people is that they end up installing the wrong .cia files which causes a brick.. just make sure you have the right version and region for your files....

on my first n3ds downgrade i thought i bricked it because the screen was black and it wouldnt boot.... i tried removing the sd card and it booted right after just fine ...

mm i mean the only reason i was willing to go through with it is because i have 3 consoles .... once it worked on one i tried another and it happened to work on all 3....

if you dont have a hard mod,a nand backup, and only one 3ds and don't feel comfortable taking a risk... i suggest waiting for it to be more thoroughly tested if thats the case

im sure a reliable and more QA'd release will come out eventually

the downgrader itself is fine. just flakey in the sense that it doesn't always get to the point where it allows you to downgrade.
the rest of it (e.g. all the bricks) are user error.

#1 rule with the downgrader: if you get to the point where it says Getting CIA information... BE PATIENT. it is doing its thing.

So after full bricking my O3DS ON 10.3U i decided to give it another go on my N3DS on 10.1U and this time i succeed to downgrade on my 1st try. I used julian20 sysupdater on page 95 on this thread and i used ninjahax to start homebrew then i installed homemunehax. Then i rebooted holding L to boot into homemenuhax i then open ftp pony and pressed B to closed it the lauched sysupdater and click Y to downgrade. After about 2min it finish and rebooted to a black screen all i did was remove sd card and rebooted to 9.2

2.Used CIA's for N3DS US 9.2.0-20U Full
2.Launched Ninjahax
3.Installed homemenuhax
4.Rebooted Holding L to launch homemenuhax

6.Launched sysupdater and pressed Y to downgrade (AFTER about 2-3 min it rebooted to black screen)
7.Removed sd card and rebooted system to 9.2U

Brand new AC:HH edition non-XL N3DS with 9.8.0-25U.

Using latest sysupdater (mentioned in my other posts) and updates with proper md5sums. Entrypoint was menuhax installed via browser.

Took about 5 tries the first time, "an error has occurred" and failed the first time. Recovery mode to 10.3.

Took 2 tries the second attempt, and now successfully downgraded to 9.2.0-20U.
