Lol, he asks you not to tag him and you say OK and then tag him again... I also highly doubt there will be a CIA version, just get Yellows8's homebrew launcher CIA and launch this from there

There's zero reason to use smea or mashers replacement to the Home Menu when you can install .cia to the real thing, except when the devs don't supply a .cia version. With many more people soon having the ability to do so it's a pretty reasonable request. This + NTR LayeredFS = no reason to use either HBL or HANS.

Thanks for the great feedback guys, I really appreciate that my tool ends up being useful for some people ;)

Now, apparently some people decide to be douches when they're given stuff for free - as such, I today received a hilarious PM, of which it would be a shame not to share it:
Since you clearly have a massive stick up your ass (in general, not just limited to being tagged which makes no sense whatsoever) and are incredibly rude, I suppose it's time to drop all niceties. If you choose not to include a .cia version, I'll take it upon myself to compile one myself and likely redistribute it in "your" braindump thread without including sources (since that irritates you so much from what I can tell).

Let this be a lesson to get some manners in the future and don't bother to respond to me as your PM will be summarily discarded without being read.

Have a nice day!

I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out in how many ways this is funny. So yeah, have a nice day, too :)

EDIT: Received more replies, this is getting better by the minute:
Do you really think I care you post my PM? Talk about GPL all you want, you will never take legal action over it and if you did I would drown you in lawyer fees with motion after motion until you simply gave up.

I will tag you as I please and do what I please and no anti-social autist who sets a bad reputation for developers is going to tell me otherwise. Post this again and keep feeding my ego. Thanks! :)

it's hard to not take that as sarcasm or a joke. but if they're being serious, well, the GPL is a license that requires source code redistribution and it's illegal not to do that (or, technically at least give it to anyone who asks?).

anyway I assume this wouldn't easily be converted to a .cia since it relies on *hax 2.5's ability to take over other games/apps, right?

Can't expect everyone so smart as you are (ha). Thanks for your work (even I don't need to use it currently).
EDIT: I found I was incluing "this is GPL licensed" but not providing GPL license file (or even the url). Sh*t myself.

Yes, if it requires more priviledge than what a userland app can have. Cause all .cia provides only a process running on the system modules and kernel.
Don't know neobrain's work much (that userland or kernel-land), but d0k3 decrypt9 can not be converted to .cia (cause decrypt9 runs on ARM9).
And for GPL. if you release any variants that licensed with it, source code must be provided. And if not LGPL, any released using GPL-licensed code must be licensed under GPL.

I talked to @Asia81 (sorry for tagging you I know you are busy) and she says that she got ExHeader out of your cxi (using an unreleased tool).I don't know if it is because she has kernel access or not.

Well there actually is a Decrypt9 CIA, but there isn't really a point to it... It only works in 4.x-9.2 so you can't run it on an updated emuNAND... Plus you can launch D9 directly which is fast than booting CFW then booting D9. Anyways to the OP, sorry you had to deal with that, some people just don't get it... I haven't used this yet but I'm pretty sure this uses the target selector right? Anything that uses that isn't easily possible (it may be possible but probably would take recoding the title selector) to make a CIA with. Anyways thanks for your work. Some people just don't get that you guys work for free and don't have to release anything if you don't want.

It doesn't work like that.
The ExHeader in these dumps are mocked-up because this software is for user-land, so it can't do some stuff software in higher-up-lands can do (reading ExHeaders).
And you don't need anything special to extract sections from a CXI. There are numerous tools for this.

Now this was the kind of response I was looking for and the one that @neobrain could have provided to save himself a lot of trouble if he didn't prefer to go off on an autistic, anti-social tirade about tagging. Thank you.:grog:

:wtf:

There is nothing wrong with not wanting to be tagged. I think neobrain did/does think you are being rude, so he is not responding. I don't necessarily agree with neobrain doing this, but that doesn't mean I disagree with it either.

Please don't use the word autistic as an insult. This is extremely offensive for people with autism (like me).

It's been a very long time (many years) since I last logged in, but I had to to say thanks to Neobrain and crew for this nice bit of software :) I really appreciate the work and it's only sad that so many people would rather bad mouth people who help and grow the community than offer a simple thanks.
