Homebrew Clarification Thread - What is going on?

I understand that any *currently* available N3DS will be able to play ROMs eventually through memchunkhax2 and ntrcardhax as long as firmware is kept at 10.3 or below.

My problem is this: I want to buy my first N3DS. Currently though I cannot find a suitable N3DS with IPS screen right away, and I don't want to rush it quite as fast. Sooo... my question is this:

If nintendo were to fix everything in 10.4 tomorrow would that be bad? An upgrade to 10.3 would be impossible because the system would update straight to 10.4, but I could just stay on 9.9,10.0,10.1 or 10.2 or whatever the firmware of my new N3DS will be and memchunkhax2 would still be usable (when it's available).

Is that correct?? Or am I mistaken and I must buy my N3DS as soon as possible, and if so, WHY? (of course I must avoid purchasing any >10.4 3DS, so I can't wait forever..)

Update now on systems you have unless they are 9.0-9.2

3DS's with 10.4 and above won't be available for a while. Stores don't just suddenly start selling 3DSs with the latest firmware as soon as it comes out. It takes time.

Problem is, if you don't already have a homebrew entrypoint, the only way to get one (without paying for a copy of CN/OoT) IS to update, and use browserhax while it's still available to set up ironhax/menuhax. If you wait until the next firmware release that fixes browserhax, you'll have no way to set up a homebrew lanucher.

@Vappy, why would they stay down on lower firmware if they didn't have an entry point anyways. Besides they can always just download old ironhax when they get in tho.

Will I be able to use these methods to downgrade sysnand to 9.2 and then boot to a 10.3 emunand from cold boot on a N3DS? I have no interest in piracy, but want to use emunand so I will no longer have to worry about updating my FW.

N3DS doesn't support emuNAND 9.5+ yet. emuNAND will brick

hahahahaha no. No one would care anymore now, if it was real. It will just be a Gateway clone, as always.

You are right, maybe we dont need gateway/sky3ds or blue moon card but BLUE MOON CARD İS REAL!!!

It is not. Because you can have all your games, CIA homebrews, eShop patching, on your emuNAND, and having themehax autoboot (and maybe arm9loaderhax ? but maybe too long to do) on your sysNAND to autoboot into it and patch the signcheck.

Old3DS can upgrade their emunand to the latest version
