Homebrew Clarification Thread - What is going on?

Yeah i know. Keep forgetting there are o3ds users still. Had 4.5 i think fw on my o3ds i sold few weeks ago (before i started to look into homebrew) to change for n3ds.

Does emuNAND has some problems compared to proper sysNAND like online patching etc ? Asking because never used it.

snshax CAN be ported on o3ds we just need devs for it.

On O3DS, it will be the same as the sysNAND. On N3DS, it will be the same as the sysNAND, but you won't be able do upgrade to 9.6 or higher or emuNAND will brick.

isn't snshax already patched for 10.2+ firmwares ? Anyways imo it's a total waste of time to develop snshax even for the n3ds, since memchunckhax2 works for both models of 3ds and for any firmware, not just 10.1 maximum

I'd have to review it. I believe snshax was strictly n3ds due to the changes in it.

It is not. Because you can have all your games, CIA homebrews, eShop patching, on your emuNAND, and having themehax autoboot (and maybe arm9loaderhax ? but maybe too long to do) on your sysNAND to autoboot into it and patch the signcheck.

i though rom hacks don't work with cias i looked at the rom hacks for pokemon and they say it works with hans and gateway 3ds and this cia kinda hans thing not a cia of a game

Was the code having a problem compiling or working on the system? Because I just compiled it after some code edits.

Currently overwrites the memory block header next pointer, but freezes due to being pointed at an invalid location.

This is on the readme in the repo.

Depending on what kind of hardware I wouldn't count ntrcardhax out yet. There might be a market for N3DS users who want the latest firmware since the limit on emunand is 9.5 still

I understand that any *currently* available N3DS will be able to play ROMs eventually through memchunkhax2 and ntrcardhax as long as firmware is kept at 10.3 or below.

My problem is this: I want to buy my first N3DS. Currently though I cannot find a suitable N3DS (edit: XL!) with IPS screen right away, and I don't want to rush it quite as fast. Sooo... my question is this:

If nintendo were to fix everything in 10.4 tomorrow would that be bad? An upgrade to 10.3 would be impossible because the system would update straight to 10.4, but I could just stay on 9.9,10.0,10.1 or 10.2 or whatever the firmware of my new N3DS will be and memchunkhax2 would still be usable (when it's available).

Is that correct?? Or am I mistaken and I must buy my N3DS as soon as possible, and if so, WHY? (of course I must avoid purchasing any >10.4 3DS, so I can't wait forever..)

if you got a 9.9 up N3DS during downgrade is available, you can avoid the browser block using the availabe fix
