A nice break from the negativity - let's look at some games coming out this week

To break up the negativity on the front page a touch, I figured I'd have a poke around Steam's upcoming releases to highlight a few that looked fun to me. The games in this post are all coming out within the next week or so, with there being no particular reason or rhyme as to why they're being featured outside of me thinking they look like a good time. If you happen to have anything on your radar, feel free to share it below. Without further ado though!

A castle-building roguelike on wheels. It's everything I want in a modern game and more. This game popped up earlier this year with a really cool demo, and I've had to hold myself back from playing more so as to keep things fresh for the final release. You ride around, devour cattle and villages, and make your fortress the one to rule them all. It looks rad.

Next up is The Loopler. It's an... Indie... roguelite... deckbuilder... but hear me out. It's slot car racing. I'll admit my personal taste does lean towards roguelikes more than any other genre with how easy they are to pick up for short stints amidst a chaotic schedule, but this one looks like it'll be a hit. Plenty of power ups, multiple tracks to pick from. It should be good.

Oh now here's a topical one. Instead of shouting at the mods here for silencing your very valid criticism of something or another, you can go be your own mod! I honestly know very little about Permaban, but from the screenshots the aesthetics seem absolutely on point, and I couldn't just not show off a game about forum moderation now could I? It's also not a roguelike, so I imagine that'll earn some points for some.

I'll round this out with a genre that's been very much on the rise of late: friendslop. If you happen to have one to three friends handy, you can task them with weird physics-based construction jobs. It's a game I feel has potential, and one I'll likely be throwing at my friendslop group before too long. There is also a single player mode if you think it looks fun but lack the friend aspect. Never let your lack of friends stand between you and a good time.

That's your lot for today anyway. I'm eager to hear what people are looking forward to at the moment, and what they're currently playing. Let me know below!

Fair warning, I have strong suspicions this is LLM/AI-generated due to discrepancies like emoji in 2007-esque design and text with obvious indicators of slop (em dashes, unnecessary capitalisation, emoji, etc.), which the store page doesn't disclose. I wrote more about it on the game's own forum, ironically.

I did check the page for any kind of disclosures to post with it but like you said, nothing there. It comes out today either way, worth keeping an eye on the reviews of those who pick it up to see whether it’s any good.

Edit:
For what it’s worth I just had another look through the page and nothing honestly screams slop to me. As somebody who likes an em dash themselves, they don’t seem to be thrown around. It just seems like they preferred them to hyphens lol. Every one of the news posts says the messages are hand written, and I don’t see a reason to witch hunt on the back of a few emojis added to tabs to make them easier to identify. But that’s just my take.

It releases today? I didn't notice that. In that case, unless it changed drastically since the store page was put up, I have no hopes for the game.
