OK I think I got someone that wants to help out on the gui guys. I dont know if I can say who it is (....maybe that someone can do it himself? :P ). We will see what we can do.

I don't think that a grid is wanted by so many. But I like the idea of carousel/coverflows like FSD, WIIFlow or USBLoaderGX.

Doing the stuff we had on USB Loader GX is easy for me. Here is a quick implementation for the carousel I made my current loadiine sources and posted on our IRC dev channel.
tv: http://www2.pic-upload.de/img/29063802/20151207_213929.jpg
gamepad: http://www2.pic-upload.de/img/29063800/20151207_214108.jpg

Dont look at the text, I know its horrible and the color was chosen like that for a color test. It does not use any textures at all and all is GPU generated (except the covers). For the rest of the GUI I dont have any textures/images..

But I was wondering if we could think of some new and better design for the WiiU loader application. Especially since we can render on tv and gamepad separately. Well let's see where we get...

This is really just a personal opinion. I would prefer a clean grid layout over anything (good overview, quick navigation, looks good), i think i would go with the current black background with white font over a fancy coverflow only option. I just like the idea of staying as natural as possible, always used the wii-like menu from USBLoaderGX for example. However i know there are many users that really like the coverflows and yes should most definitely be in it.

nah i know what you mean, most GUI's have a tendency of looking a little cluttered, good thing about the wiiu is you can have a coverflow style setup on the TV and a grid/list visible on the gamepad best of both worlds, fancy pancyness TV display with the speedier navigation of a grid on the gamepad

I'm wondering if we could perhaps start with an interface that is really flat and boring but easily skinned? Such as a bunch of png or whatever file formats that people could replace with ones of their choosing then unleash it to the community to bring forth skins. I would love to mess around and make skins with different styles for this but not with the pressure of being the main guy that the project is resting on. I haven't been active in graphics and skinning since I was doing MSN Messenger skins. They only achieved a few hundred thousand downloads but I guess that is a little popular and I'd be curious to skin for this.

I actually thought of that originally as well, but I think the main goal is to get a decent gui out while other stuff is then worked on. I do second theme support in an easy manner, such as replacing pngs like an old simple html 3 or 4 template, with the extended features of what the gx2 can do. Would be neat and I'm sure people would contribute here and there on that type of "skin".

Haven't read any earlier reply so I apologise. But could you not implement a theme engine into loadiine? That way you could come up with a quick base and let the community take over from there.

Question about saves: So my brother started a save in Xenoblade Chronicles X on MY profile with my Mii. I know saves are tied to the specific mii's, but is there a way to transfer the save to his Mii profile? Or is it forever encrypted/locked onto my Mii Wii U profile?

Also what if I got another Wii U system later, and had to start over with my Mii. Would I be able to use my old saves that I backed up?

if you use loadiine, there's no profile.
All the profile folder's content is saved into "u" (for User) folder, regardless of the chosen Mii. it means all profiles are sharing the same savegame.

BUT, there's a Loadiine version 3.0 from Maschell which correctly save the profile folders separately.
https://github.com/dimok789/loadiine/network
look for the version from November 12th if you want multi-account loadiine.

If you want loadiine v4.0 and create a new save, you will have to swap the folder on your SD card.
wiiu/saves/game name/u/ <--- rename u to something else, or copy/move it or its content.
Or, ultimately, use a different SD card.

Wow, this is pretty sweet that the Wii U has been hacked to play Wii U games but I've already tried most of them so not much use to me, that and I prefer to own physical copies (I just have about 18 now) for the sake of playing a game years later (with a legal licence).

Congrats to the Loadiine team. :)

@dimok. What happened to getting Splatoon working, any news regarding that point?. I understand its mostly a multiplayer online game but still it would be nice to play the actual campaign it self on your own, just to have ago. That would be nice to have a v4.2 loadiine with just that as the progress. The GUI sounds nice good luck with that!

Edit: I'm not telling you what to do here so please don't take any offence by this comment, it was just a thought but is it not more important getting 100% games compatibility before getting involved in anything else with loadiine?. I think that would be more my port of call first if I was doing the project. Of course, if its not possible, then its not possible, nothing can be done you must move on to the next project with loadiine I will agree on that!

Yeah agreed. I mentioned it only because I noticed know one else has seemed to of bring it up as progress with loadiine. It has got a single player campaign and would be really great to have a blast with that and also it is a massive Nintendo title to boot!, it just makes sense to get it working as one of the list.
