Well I haven't had any issues at all. I didn't have to do a pot tweak in my Platinum Gamcube system, and I use great quality mini DVD-R. Before I did XenoGC installations, I used my Max Drive Pro with Swiss loaded on it to boot backups
Me neither and all I've been installing as of late are Xeno clones.

I've had no problem with even shoddy quality mini DVD-Rs. Knock off xeno, knock off discs, all working fine.

well because I have an GC compatible wii I never tought much about this but if I could get a GC and mod it, I would like to use an USB thing ... it's reall sucks that much ?
also some tutorial show how they stiall these stuff? i'm very curious XD it's kinda nice seeing thes ekind of hacks nowadays actually ... kepping them alive... like the flashcard for consoles between nes and n64 but the bad os that they coust so much xp

I kind of like the idea of taking one of those boards that you can put an SD card full of roms and soldering it directly to the console and making a whole new case for it. Certainly would slim them down a bit.

Yeah .. the flashard is good enough (an more because some like snes (some of megadrive too?) need an in cart CPU do handle some games, but not that an " SD board upgrade mod " can't do, I guess
...
But i like the ieda of still being able of playing from the original way XD unless your driver are ded like can happen with DC or GC

But Gamecubes are so cheap you can buy a whole console for less than just replacing the Drive. I've had one Gamecube Drive die on me, I just got bought a new console and desoldered the Xeno and put it in the new one.

not in Brazil, my friend hahha even to get an new controller, pirate, used, for a good price is nothing cheap)
well I never had an GC , I have a friend that his drive s]died, don't know if he care but maybe he would like to install a Xeno hahah

I don't mind installing xenos either, if it was something you wanted someone to do. I was a professional soldering operative, and I've soldered countless modchips over the years. Problem is that if you needed a xeno ordered, they can take 6 weeks to get here where I live, and I'm in the UK, an easy place to ship to.

oh Xenos is the modchip, not the usb thing ?

They don't do USB for the Gamecube. You can use Memory card SD readers for homebrew, though.

Yeah, the Xeno is the modchip that solders to the underside of the Gamecube's drive, allowing it to play backup disks.

My GameCube will never become retired. I haven't done any permanent modification to them but often hack games on the Cube through the USB Gecko :)
EDIT: almost forgot to mention that I'm working on a hacking wiki for the GameCube that explains how to use several tools, Action replay AR code types, PPC ASM and dumping games to SD, over network or USB Gecko :)
I can let you know when it's on a decent progress

It's really hard, almost impossible to get ahold of the usb geckos now.

What can you actually do with a USB gecko anyway? Is it mainly for hacking games?
You can access the RAM to enable cheat codes or make your own. You can also dump your games through it and stream backups to your console (Not sure if the Clone is able to do this).
Gecko dNET is the best remote debugger to create cheats and features a nice disassembler to make assembly hacks

How do you stream games via USB Gecko? I recently dug out mine from a box in my storage unt, but never knew what to do with it.

I'd love to know how to stream ISOs, as I already do that with SNES, NES, Megadrive and PS2. Does that require a lot of programming?
