Hey guys.
I bricked my 3DS a long time ago. It was after I installed PastaCFW (could that be it?). Is there a fix? I tried taking it apart but no luck.
Thanks

Also which hardmod?
There is only one hardmod, where wires are soldered to the NAND points to a port. Then that port will have an SD card reader with wires soldered inside it for the connector. Connect the adapter to the 3DS through the new port, get a compatible SD Reader and put it in your PC. Using WinDiskImage, you can restore your backup.

Oh that is nice, I actually have a XL nand backup.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

First of all, you cannot use a nand backup from a XL.
You need to use a nand backup from your specific XL.
Any backup from another XL will not work.

Hmm idk about that. Probably, is there a way to check NAND version?
Were you using Pasta?
Then you had FW9.2 or below?
Why would your backup be from a FW above 9.2?

i'm not sure which one that is (still new to the 3ds scene) but here's a video of a 3ds xl hardmod

it should help identify where to solder and such

IO compatible. he first reads it, then writes it back in the next video (part 2). since you have a backup you can skip the reading part
part 1 describes how to do the mod itself though

Good. Will this definitely unbrick from PastaCFW or does it only have 50% chance? Is there a way to see if the NAND has a problem or something else?

if your 3ds xl goes to a black screen on powerup, and you have a copy of the sysnand (NAND.BIN), you can use that video to restore your NAND.BIN to your 3ds. it works regardless of what firmware you have on the 3ds xl because you're rewriting the system's contents. after that, you can do whatever mods you want, like reinstalling pasta or rxtools or whatever.

unfortunately its not possible to examine your existing NAND.BIN since its encrypted, but it should be around 1GB in size.
