The
Quake is not very resource-intensive, there's already a DS version of it, so the 3DS should have more than enough resources.
the ds versions (cquake and dsquake) use highly modified rendering engines with substantial changes - fixed point calculations, custom gpu rendering code optimized memory allocations. This is currently using software rendering. It is quite a bit more resource and cpu intensive.

The big difference is that this will hopefully have netplay. As much as I want 3D, multiplayer Quake > all.
There must be more interest for the 3ds. I released a nifi version of cquake that allowed multiplayer without an access point. I was not able to find anyone interested in testing/playing.

I'd have tested that in a heartbeat if I had a DS.

I only recently got into homebrew and I still don't know all the places to look for it. Knowing something exists is the best way to generate demand. Is homebrew in general more popular now?

Also, if netplay were introduced for this version of Quake(or others) would it be able to play against(and promptly be slaughtered by) PC players running vanilla?

Yes, but remenber that this is a port of winQuake and not quakeWorld

That's good enough for me. I mostly only care about being able to reasonably play over local wifi so the number of people online doesn't matter to me.

Anything over that is gravy. A QuakeWorld port would be awesome, but is unnecessary.

Hi all

This is absolutely brilliant works perfectly fine on my o3DS running 10.1.0-27E, not sure how many fps but it's fast!. I forgot what a visceral dark experience the original Quake was. I was up all night playing it. Only thing I would suggest is possibly to add 3D to it, I realise this might slow it down since it has to render two scenes at the same time. Thank you to the dev!

I'm on a N3DS and it's not detecting the c-stick or zl/zr.

Any idea what could cause that?

Yes, you have to launch themehax after booting and not during. When you get to the home screen press the power button to get to the Sleep Mode screen, then press the home button and soon after that hold L
