Will it freeze if you don't click? It was freezing on me 100% after about 20 tries then it started to work. Odd. On another comp its way better. Both win 7 64bit.
It does (but continue reading)

@wj44 @H93 @gamesquest1 @EclipseSin and others:
Well, I have found a solution.
It appears that the less stuff is being loaded the more reliable the FSA-reading becomes.
I have thought about where's pretty much nothing loaded and moved to the sound test. While no song was being played I could read the FSA without any problem (otherwise the game would freeze). It's at 7.something GB now :)
Thank you all for your time and thank you (Dankeschön) wj44 for your reliable TCP Gecko build :)

BTW. does anyone of you know a place in SM3DW where no music is playing?

you could play with the cafiine server active to see if there is any areas where no files are being loaded then use that screen....by bet would be starting the luigi bros mini game and pausing there (as the luigi bros game is stored in the rpx not the content file system)

Didn't help either. I have also noticed that the game instantly freezes when I click anywhere on TCP Gecko after clicking the "Read FSA" button.
I think it's an issue between my Wii U and TCP Gecko..
This happens to me too, but even if it says "Gecko dNet.exe is not responding" I let it sit there and it eventually loads the FSA after some time. It doesn't lose connection though.

Glad to see you got it sorted out :)

SD Card size is a problem so not necessarily better and we will be "back in the old Wii days". I love the network :P
well obviously people who choose to dump their game to SD card should have a rough idea how big the game is and know to use a decent sized SD card.....for people wanting to legitimately dump their own games it would be great, the network is great for some stuff, ram hacks and stuff on the fly...but for pure full game dumping straight to SD would be better imho, no reason why we couldnt have both options :P

Yeah but dumping full games (multiple GB's) is only like 1 hour or whatever so it's not even a big deal to do it over the network. I personally would still use it and not spend extra cash for an SD Card just to walk to my Wii U, take it out after dumping, connect it to my PC, copy files over, delete the file(s) from the SD Card and put it back in the Wii U. Lazyness rulez :D

I still can't read the FSA of SM3DW. I have found a menu where no music is playing (score message after beating a boss). But clicking "Read FSA" just froze the game again. I have also tried the recent release of the gecko installer
SM3DW just might have a really long load time in the FSA Read tab, since there are so many tiny files it has to pull. (Hence why it takes like an hour to load with Loadiine)

Oh I see. Well, the problem is that TCP Gecko also looses connection.
Hopefully there will be an SD card base dumper

Man I've been messing with this lately and it was a nightmare. I was able to get all 4 of my wii u games dumped but all were different. Some games would crash if I wasn't in game. I purchased a lan adapter cause wifi speed were slow. That made it worse. I'm going to try a diff model.
I believe the LAN adapter is USB 1.1, so you won't get much of an improvement with it compared to wifi, if at all.

Well, I'm taking a dump of Assasin's Creed III (17GB) right now and it's a pain in the fart hole. It's dumping for over 7 hours not and still not complete (dumping fsa is much slower than dumping the ram. I think the Wii U copies a few kBytes of the files into ram to make TCP Gecko able to transfer them, what is time consuming)
