Hi folks,

i´ve formatted my gateway emunand (blackscreen problem), now i can´t use my old savegames. Is there a way to fix this?

What i did:

Copied the savegames which i backuped prior to the format of emunand onto the system sd-card (not the one in the ).

Thanks for reading

Save games for cia or roms? Also, what did you back them up with?

Hi WeedZ1985,

the savegames are plain 512KB rom-saves - i just copied them from the sd to my harddrive - i guess that was wrong? i don´t want to startover all the games but i think i have no choice here, right?
The issue here, if I'm not mistaken, is that the gw uses the 3ds to encrypt save files. When you formatted your emunand you changed the encryption. You should have used save data filer to backup the saves prior to formatting. The way you backed them up is fine so long as theyre restored to the same nand later. You need to decrypt them and then import them to each rom one by one. Idk if you can use save data filer to do this, or if its even possible at all. Maybe someone else could be more detailed.

No, Gateway saves, like regular cartridges, are tied to the ROM header, and even work across different consoles.

@WarioBalotelli
I'm afraid I have no idea what the problem is here. Are you sure you copied all the .sav files back onto the SD card, and in the correct location (on the root of the card)?
Which games have you tested? Did you only test one game or did you test several of them?

Hi Bro,

i´ve actually tested only one of my roms. The saves are stored on the internal sd (root). I guess that is right?

I will test more roms and keep you informed.

Thanks for the attention.

It wasn't Fantasy Life was it? Because that's one of the games where the cartridge is actually locked to the console and if you try to play it on another 3DS the save won't work.
There may be other such games but Fantasy Life is the only one I remember.

Edit: I went and looked this up and it looks like Fantasy Life actually stores all its save data on the SD card in a similar fashion to an eShop game so the Gateway save for it is all but useless since the real save will be in the "Nintendo 3DS" folder (and therefore would have been lost once you formatted your emuNAND)
