is this topic some kind of trolling?

you know nothing about cia, sky3ds etc, and then when we told you what is this you are trying to do your own cfw with cia support ????!!!

from 0 knowledge to first cfw with cia support without gateway..... , im sorry but lots of people didnt done that yet, they work every day in teams and didnt done that, and you think you can do it on your own, no way

or you came from future, then i can understand this

I have never said anything about making a CFW, I wanted to know what I needed to get my card playing something it didn't.
For me that didn't take long, it's done and I'm now able to play the games I want.

Sorry to whoever mentioned it before but I don't like Shovel Knight, I've played it now and it's really bad 8bit emulated style rubbish! Rick Dangerous port would have been better!

My knowledge in 3DS was almost zero this is true, my ability to read asm is quite remarkable.

Well i think with the way game gfx has improved over all these years, its quite hard to go back to playing an old 8bit gfx game and still get the feeling that the game is enjoyable. I remember the days of playing old platform games like Commander Keen but now when i tried something similar now like Mutant Mudds, i lost interest in less than 5mins. :(

Because I know something about 8bit games or that Rick Dangerous was really 16bit and you think I'm an idiot!

"I just did something people were telling me was impossible, but instead of posting a video or sharing some tools I'm just going to write an incredibly shortsighted sensationalist one line review of a highly rated game where instead of saying something intelligent like 'it seemed like a good homage, and did a good job of capitalizing on 8bit nostalgia, but just isn't the kind of game I'm into' I just wrote that it was really bad rubbish!"

Feel free to post your video and then everyone will have to shut up and say sorry for doubting you, but until you do that you will be met with all the skepticism you deserve considering all you've done so far is make vague references to ARM9 and asm without actually writing anything that proves you know what you're talking about.

I'm sick of seeing shit like this here. Every new dev that wants to contribute to this scene is met with responses like this.

What gives you the right to speak to her anyone like that? How do you know what she is and isn't capable of?

Just because she's new to working with the 3DS doesn't mean she's new to coding, or assembly, or Reverse Engineering in general.

This is still a burgeoning scene and there's going to be many devs looking to join in over the next few years.

Some will already have an established reputation for producing great things, while others will be people you've never heard of, whose work you're unfamiliar with.

So what if, after a few weeks or months working on this she discovers that her goal is unachievable? Who cares?

If we're lucky she uses all of her new found knowledge of the 3DS to make contributions to the scene in other ways. Perhaps even in the form of the ROM loading CFW everyone here feels they're entitled to.

If we're unlucky, rather than have to admit defeat to cunts like you, she leaves the scene and uses her newfound knowledge to build yet another private CFW.

Worse case scenario; she hasn't got a clue what she's doing and by this time next week nobody even remembers her name.

Agreed some of the best hackers in the scene are female WulfyStylez is a fantastic hacker.

Wulfy is female? Never noticed that. Honestly, I just want GW on 9.5 sysNAND. Ahh to dream...

Hopefully KARL takes off this summer. That would be epic.

But yeah, if you figure out a way to play eShop on Sky3DS I'd love to know how... then we could run PokeBank.

Exactly that. It is a mystery to me as to why a developer - one who tries to achieve what would be of use to many forum members - is met with that amount of hostility in this forum. And I do even extend this to the KARL3DS thread and the one hot topic (I won't name now) that some forum users seem to not be able to agree on.

I've been lurking here up until now and I agree with some of you - trying to achieve that with a SKY3DS seems like an additional complication rather than in any way helpful. Addititional to the requirement of patching signature checks you'd need to somehow convert eShop .CIAs to retail cart .3DS format, add the corresponding entries to the SKY3DS template, and maybe even stuff that I forgot about. Just patching the signature checks and using Ninjhax / FBI seem like the much easier route. Still, maybe Penny knows something we don't. At least I'm a noob when it comes to stuff like that.

Could you show us some proof of concept? Any chance you'll release something?

This kind of response towards newcomers is probably caused by disbelief. The disbelief comes from the many others that asked dumb questions (like the OP) and the claims of capability of doing these things, yet showing no proof of such capability whatsoever, which is also the case of this thread.

Either way, I'll always answer questions.

she already said that she did it, in 2-3 days? from 0 knowledge about cia, etc, to :
"For me that didn't take long, it's done and I'm now able to play the games I want."

do you really think she did it ? no one did it, but this girl.

So she's at least not a total sham... I'm not sure how hard this actually is to pull off but she sent me a template file to get Shovel Knight loaded into the Sky3DS SD Card.

It worked.. here is your proof:

I haven't received anything since though and I hope all the naysayers didn't scare her off.

That just means the SHA1 checksum is correct, DiskWriter has next to no security or magic checks, they're performed by the flashcart itself. The game won't boot for obvious reasons.

Right. My point was that she at least got something working and if her exploit did what it was claimed to do then this is indeed the first step. It could very well be an elaborate troll... and communication pretty much dropped off early yesterday after she said she got it working and the game sucked... so I dunno.

I've got my gateway and a sky3ds.. I just thought it was a cool concept and could lead to other projects.

The funny thing is I have never used YouTube before, strangely I think it'll take about the same time to learn that as it did to patch the SIG code.

I bet you all think I'm lying about that too!

The difference between me and you all is that I bothered to use IDA and GCC.
Oh and I don't slag people off within a couple of days... I wait over a month before asking why we haven't seen anything from KARL.
