Cia updates are region free AFAIK.
Everthing I have read and experienced points to the updates not being region free. I have a eu MM and kept trying to apply the update and it would install but was not applied. When I obtained an EU it worked fine.

I could be wrong here but I think that ISO site lists the different region updates for a reason.

Well after you instal the update via devmenu or big blue menu you basically turn on your WiFi and play the game. Just be sure not to leave the console in sleep mode because it will download the latest update.

You should make a nand backup just in case. Then make an emunand partition and unlink emunand and sysnand by removing the SD card and formatting the console. After that make 3 fake internet connections and youre good to go.

Ok so I just formatted emunand using the guide; So I have to remove the SD card and then format the system, Ok

Where do I go to format it again, system settings in Sysnand?

Miles, Although you are not updating emunad I still suggest using emunand tool and making a backup of it. After you get all cia files installed make another backup as well. It can really come in handy.

Where can I get emunand tool, is there a topic on this? And thanks for the tip, I guess the idea is to back up emunand often right?

Yup, that's right. You can format your system via the system setting on sysNand.

Sweet, ok, ive already got a red background color for emunand and nothing for sysnand :D, about to unlink the two now :D

EDIT: Btw, the bug where if you leave system settings in GW mode (emunand) and get sent to sysNand without knowing (unless you have a different background :D) is pretty serious, they need to fix it, I went into system settings and say GW 9.0 and left and yeh the bug is still there cus I went to Synand

I will be VERY careful not to leave that menu when I do update emunand and I should be safe :)

Bug or feature, I don't know! It has been like that since Gateway released their emunand. I don't think they should waste their time too much on this, there are more serious issues to fix right now. You just have to expect that when you go into system settings while on emunand, you will exit system settings to sysnand. Then act accordingly. Just make the nands look different visually, and you'll be alright.

Super easy to use it even auto detects you mSD. Just run it, click extract emunand, select a location to save it, wait a few minutes and you are done.

If you have .3ds/3dz file on the mSD in the gateway then you press select will in emunand and a menu appears in the top screen. Use d pad to navigate and press A, then A again.

I would verify that they are region free. From everything I have read and my own (limited) experience they are not. That should not be a problem however because they are all available.

Also, if I want to play games that I already have saved data for like Pokemon X etc. do I go to sysnand and run as usual when I power on system or do I go to Gateway classic mode? (If not what is Gateway classic mode again?)

Correct. Just enjoy the 9.0 Emunand.
Does anyone know how to correlate eshop patches to games from the 3DS folder?
Um... Amazon.

Amazon only has the Japanese model! One more thing, I need t ask the seller an information about the serial number in order to know if the unit is 9.2 or below!

Anyone got the link to a good .cia guide for how to install them for 1st time users? Would really appreciate it

Classic mode is for retail carts. It's purpose is to allow you to run higher firmware games when your sysnad is below that firmware.

You have a n3Ds, correct? If so, you can just run them from sysnand as it will not be as problem. Apache Thunder has a method for extracting those saves so you can ditch the carts if you would like. Something to look into as you get more familiar with how everthing works.

Search on Amazon.com

Yes, I already did that, in Amazon.com (USA) does have only Japanese. Oh, I got your point, I mean, i want the black one, and as black there is only JP on the site! But Thanks!

Edit: I found it, Thanks again!
