Homebrew Homebrew app [Release] Switify – Native Spotify app and background playback overlay for Nintendo Switch

hello. the crunchyroll app for switch is officially shutting down in october. it would be really cool if you could keep that going

Having some issues with the overlay currently. The standalone is working and I connected it to my account. Extracted the overlay to the SD-card root, rebooted and it won't enable in my sysmodules for it to work. The switify service on the overlay keeps saying "Dormant/launch failed" and detail is saying "system resources exhausted". Tried retry automatic startup, and refresh connection, same thing but I feel like it's because the sysmodules isn't enabling.

Edit: Just saw the workaround with the memory kit, afraid to do it so I'll pass on the kit since it might overlap some settings for it to not boot. Been there before.

Thanks for taking the time to test it.

The problem you are having means the Switch kernel does not have enough available system resources to launch the normal Switify background service. This can happen when several sysmodules are installed or running simultaneously.

I have prepared a special lightweight compatibility build for you to test. It uses less memory and fewer system resources:

  • Smaller overlay
  • Reduced background-service memory reservation
  • No separate artwork network session or worker thread
  • Only the audio decoder Switify actually uses
The main compromise is that album artwork is disabled in this build. A music-note placeholder will appear instead, but browsing, playback, playlists, search, volume, shuffle, repeat, and other controls should continue working normally. Please, let me know how that goes. If it still fails, send me the text shown under Service and Details, plus any new files created inside (careful with credentials.json, never share that one please):

/config/Switify/
Post automatically merged:

Updated versions for the app and overlay are now available, check OP for details.
I installed the latest version of the overlay (0.50), and when it didn't work, I installed the Lite version, but it still says that the system resources are exhausted. I don't know what to do. Also, I can't play with the overlay
