Ok, so long story short, i'm trying to get my friends wii to use USB loader GX. It says something about IOS249 not being a stub. So he claims he tried installing the IOS, and it just freezes his wii.

So I read that he needs a program called IOS36 patcher, So I looked at this:

http://gwht.wikidot.com/ios236

So I followed that guide, and got the NUS program, put the title I.D in, and it just won't work. My friend said it worked for him, but it's giving him the wrong version of the IOS36.(the one we need supposedly is IOS36-64-v3351.wad, but the NUS downloader is giving him a different version(despite putting the right title I.D in.)
He can't play any of his games on USB loader GX, he tried CFG as well, and he got the same issue with the IOS stubb.

The main reason why were doing this is because we want project M to work on his wii.(his disc drive is broken, so he's using his ISO file from his disc.) and whenever he tries to get his games working, he gets that error. So the first step is to get the brawl ISO to work to begin with..

He also tried a ret installer, it first says that there is a error, and then the next message after that says "custom IOS installed successfully.) but he still can't get his games to work despite this.

Also, I tried to find a program that could make a custom brawl ISO, but when I tried it personally, it just gave me an error, and asked for a certain file. So after combing the internet for what felt like 2000 years, I finally found the file, still the same error.

This is starting to become a wild goosechase, and it's really starting to frustrate me. If we can't even get his IOS to work, then there is no chance we can even get Project M to work.

I should also mention his wii is on 4.3 U

ModMii is a windows program. It asks you some basic questions about what you want to do with your Wii and then it downloads all the files for you and puts them neatly in a folder called 'COPY CONTENTS TO SD CARD ROOT' or something. Then it generates a step-by-step guide just for you.

https://code.google.com/p/modmii/downloads/list

My recommendation is to completely remod the wii from the start.

No. Since it's a Wii and not a Wii u he can use Letterbomb which is easier anyway. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/LetterBomb

Does he already have the homebrew channel? if so you can skip that part of the guide, but i would run through everything in the guide just to be sure, and remember to follow it word for word tho.
