If you're tight on cash, then I suggest you save up for the game you think will last you the longest. LttP is an excellent Zelda game, it's still my favorite in the entire series. But on the same note I'd recommend something else entirely, e.g. EarthBound. That game will have you crying and wetting your pants, seeing nightmares, calling your mom for help, getting deeply depressed, incapable of social interaction, and finally the feeling of utter amazement at how astonishing and influential an RPG game can be. You'll shed tears of blood just looking at the title screen after you've completed it. Did I mention it's actually a good game? :)

I wouldn't recommend Mario Kart 8 because you'd probably get bored of it pretty quickly but if you like fighting games and with tons of content and infinite hours of replayability then Smash Wii U it is.

Note: Smash Wii U is only seriously playable if you use a GameCube controller.

Rubbish advice, Smash is perfectly playable with other controllers, And mario kart has just as much longevity as smash,

Which is why it can't really be recommended before the adapter, official or third party, is seriously available. OP doesn't sound like wanting to drop over $100 on a stupid adapter that Nintendo can produce for $1 and still fails to get to market... *Sigh*

It's playable but not ideal.

Nope. It isn't.

I played the original Mario Kart 8 before the DLC 1 even arrived and I got tired of it quicker than I had expected, and yes, I did play online (as I always do with MK8) so once I've played all of it I was done with it.

The Battle stages are utter crap so I just skipped it because it's just normal races.

Hopefully DLC 2 will last more than 20hrs.

Awesome! I hope you can take your time playing it as it's a vast game with tons and tons of content. It should easily last you 30 hours, likely even longer. My first playthrough was 82 hours and I really took my time to play it. Nowadays I can beat the game in less than 10 hours and honestly, this is one of the games that will be enjoyable no matter how much time you sink in it. If you ever feel stuck hit me up via PM, I'd love to help. ;)

if you still want to get alttp and earthbound there is always vwii emus :P

Shush! I want Mother 4 / EarthBound 2 to happen. It doesn't have to be by Itoi's lead. If he's done with Mother, surely there are other folks bright and talented enough willing to take up the challenge! And if we all just keep emulating stuff without paying for it, then it'll never happen. :( (I do realize there's a one in a million chance of Mother 4 ever happening, but still!)

Well, with $43 you can probably get ALTTP along with that Earthbound, since it's also a fun game. I'd spend that eshop money on many cheaper games rather than one large expensive one. Liking metroidvania games? Super Metroid and Guacamelee are great... and so on. There's much fun to be had ;)

I'm thinking about getting Mother/Earthbound or whatever the game's called because it seems to be THAT awesome and people constantly give it high praise so it's a game not to miss out.

Problem is, there's other games I want to play and complete first before getting to Earthbound, like finding all the crates in CoL (clearly they're hidden in dark places which complicates everything now).

I just recently got Earthbound and it is awesome.

I am old enough to still have an original Earthbound Snes cartridge in my loft :) I never really got into it back in the day, was too impatient... Maybe i will get the old snes out and give it a proper go.

This depends of what kind of games you like.

I don't mind fighting games, but find them really boring. I have Smash, and got bored of it after one hour. Mario Kart on the other hand I need to play that less.

as far as longevity goes, maybe looking into rpg's, like fire emblem, fantasy life, bravely default, or even animal crossing works
alttp is a good game, but its too short and easy
vn's like ace attorney trilogy will work too if you havnt played the games already
