Nintendo is almost all about platformers so no point to have the right analogue stick on the top when the buttons are a lot more important.

If Xbox had the right analogue stick on the top it'd make sense since the games that are mostly played are either racing or shooting both of which make use of the right stick.

Ya that makes a lot of sense, never thought about that

I often read articles from Kotaku but noticed this one back from 2012 that they just went totally nuts with it, what is it specifically about? Kotaku bashing the Wii U Pro Controller saying it feels cheap, light-weight, glossy, vibration and more.

http://kotaku.com/5944586/i-hate-the-wii-u-pro-controller

Shit like this is why I'd rather not follow them on Facebook but sometimes they actually have interesting articles which don't suck.

Anyway, if you have a Wii U then the Wii U Pro Controller is essential for your gaming sessions!

Wii U Pro Controller is one of Nintendo's better controllers. It improves on the GameCube controller in some ways, but also takes a step back in other ways. It's a very nice controller in general. Don't see the point bashing it for what it is when other options aren't much better (e.g. DualShock 4 and Xbox One controller).

I'm now looking into a Wii-U Pro Controller. I'd like to ask you all, how would you rate the Wii-U Pro Controller as far as quality and battery life goes?

In addition, to anyone who has gotten a USB reciever for one, how is the connection between it and the controller?

The original Wii Classic Controller is nice, and works fine with the Mayflash Wii Classic Controller adapter:
http://www.mayflash.com/products/pcusb/pc045.html

Mayflash also makes a Wii-U receiver, which works nicely with the Wii-U Pro Controller:
http://www.mayflash.com/Products/NINTENDOWiiU/W009.html

it's a lot easier than fighting Bluetooth, and it also works with 3rd party controllers, such as the Pro Commander by Nyko.

And one final suggestion is the Mayflash Wirless Sensor DolphinBar:
http://www.mayflash.com/Products/NINTENDOWiiGC/W010.html

It would allow you to use a Wiimote with (or without) an attached Wii Classic Controller.

And, your Wiimote will float effortlessly in the air:

I realize this almost sounds like a Mayflash ad, but they truly make some nice controller adapters, and they're reasonably priced.

Cant remember when i charhed this last time. Batt. life has an awesome durability

Very true! However, once you do have to charge the controller it becomes an annoyance as the Wii U doesn't provide standby power. I wish it did, because now I have to either resort to playing with a "wired" connection or connect the Pro Controller to my computer to charge. It'd be much easier if I could just have it connected to the Wii U when I'm not playing so it's ready and charged when I'm playing. :(

I use a seperated cable to charge it. I didnt had much issues with that. I find it annoying when (gamepad) i play a game the screen always on. Each time i need to save batt and put it off.

That, too... Nintendo should update the Wii U OS to detect which controller was used to start a game, e.g. if the Pro Controller was used in the first place, then automatically turn off (or at least dim) the Wii U GamePad. And make it so that once you touch the screen it'll turn on again. Would be a true improvement to the user experience IMO.

P.S. A good tip: use a common USB charger (e.g. the one that comes with an iPhone) to charge the Pro Controller. No need to have cables dangling from your computer.

I don't think so... 5V 1A DC power isn't exactly high power and most devices have protection not to be bothered by fluctuations in that range. So you're good... :D

Thanks to know that. Both charged so next time i can let me sister charged her phone aswell:). Im happy with this controller. One of the best and it also dont make much noise when playing SSB. When my brother plays with the GCC the whole house hears the button smashing sound lol. Same as with the N64 controller while playing Mario party 64. Only the GCC last longer. Cant wait for Mparty 10!!!!!!!

yes almost a 100 post. Still need a 3ds code for Smash bros for the soundtrack someone got one. hehe.

Tropical Freeze kinda turned off the GamePad's screen but at the same time it was on, safe to say it's one of the very few or the only one which has such a good feature.

I'm yet to charge my Wii U Pro Controller as the battery lasts for so long.

It's easier to just use the Quick Start via the GamePad and get straight to the game than wait for the Wii U to boot up and use the Pro Controller then.

That happens only when the analog stick isn't perfectly centered. Happens to me sometimes. Accidentally brushing against the analog stick or lightly holding it in place with my thumb makes that happen. When you turn on the console with the Wii U Pro Controller then make it a habit to never touch the analog stick before you're in the Wii U Menu. :)

Yes i was clear of that, but still annoying it happends me often. If its not centering well sometimes thats the only weak con of the device, but all other pros makes it a great controller.

Honestly I think that if the Wii U shipped with the Pro Controller and NOT the GamePad the reception would've been much more positive. It's that good.
