I got 9.0.0-20. Should I update to 9.2.0-20? I'm afraid of updating to a version that could be newer than that, but I think the newest is compatible atm

sounds like they have sat on the ability to allow current fw's until someone attempts to snaffle their business.. i dont have a 3DS anymore but i dont like gateways attitude at all... they have bothered me since the bricking sharade

They could have been sitting on it to test it with N3DS/Xenoblades and make sure it stil works with their updates. You live in God's city anyway, nothing to be mad about

Yes. Staying in 9.0.0-20 is the best choice i have ever made. Between Sky3DS and Gateway, i still choose Gateway

Don't you worry, there are some clean pirates aswell. Hygiene is important!

Nice it should rise sales of gateway, and tbh emunand is a big pro in comparison to other flashcards. Tbh even now if i were to pick between cards i'd go for gatway exactly because of emunand.

I doubt it, expanding the compatible FW is a goldmine to GW, it's not like they are making money in delivering updates to existing customers, their only way is to grab new users.

To be fair though, no flashcart is even required for EmuNAND (see: RedNAND).

Indeed. The only 3ds-Flashcardless emuNAND is the CFW, which can't be updated (at least past 4.5). Well, technically GW's launcher doesn't required their card as well, only for firmwares past 7.2.

While it is true that opening it up to higher firmware would mean a wider target audience.
There are good reasons to hold off.

Say they had "a way in", if they shot that load on an earlier moment and it got patched they would have to look for a new exploit or way in again.
So waiting untill a critical moment (big game release such as ORAS or MH4 etc or a similar such big event) then their effective results are far greater.

Knowing that most 3DS users that wanted to get it, already could get a 4.x device.
So, now with titles such as ORAS on the horizon, a competative card having broken the 4.5 barrier AND the New 3DS reaching english shores soon (in terms of playing the game/localization EU/US differ far less than both do with JP releases).
So I wouldn't be surprised if they were sitting on *something* already and were waiting for the right moment to maximize results.

Little buggy question : Sky3DS = firmwares between 4.5 and 9.2 but GW is for 4.5 and 9.2 but not for 5.x/6.x/7.x or 8.x ?
So not the same exploit ?
