you also received troopage-test2-boot

I gave it a quick test in mario sunshine and here are my observations:
I really like the idea of controlling camera with D-PAD it feels more natural than tilting the nunchuck
also having c+dpad keeps normal d-pad function
I was afraid to get lost while pressing c&- c&+ vs - and + for the four buttons but I got used to it fast
I didn't add 1/2 pressed stuff yet

So my first impression is that there are many cool stuff in that config that we can make use of later
thanks for the suggestion

edit: other users are also welcome to test the new dol just ask me, troopage or nakata via pm

The new config works perfect in the games I tested. I didn't have any issues except for that I have naggers config burned into my memory, so accidentally hit the wrong buttons in the beginning. As for C & D-Pad controlling the C-Stick, it should definitely become a permanent addition to naggers config.

Thanks to the new revision, I was able to play more games. In these games, it became apparent that the D-Pad has it so that the pressure on the C-Stick is too much. My suggestion would be to lower it and add acceleration depending on how long you hold a button on the D-Pad.

Posting from mobile atm, so please excuse any weird formating.
I received the two experimental betas last night, transered them to my SD but only this afternoon I had the time to thoroughly test them. Without further ado, my impressions:
- Troopage config works better than i expected using - and + in several games, though I still think that confusion would ensue for those 2 buttons in other configs (possible solution: look at the suggestion below to use 1 button as config changer). All in all, I prefer naggers by far.
- Modified naggers config with Troopage suggestions (NC c held makes wiimote dpad act as GC c-stick, 2 button is exit to loader) could work better than current naggers, but it needs GC dpad button mapping, which it currently lacks. It is also inexplicably missing the L1/L2 and R1/R2 GC assignment that was in beta 13 suggested by Troopage and worked great as NC c held and NC Z or wiimote B. Finally, I really like having wiimote 2 button as exit to loader and wiimote Home as pause button, similar behaviour to Wii games.

I have two radical suggestions: make the wiimote 1 button the new config changer. 1 plus dpad right is naggers, 1 and dpad left is Abz, 1 and dpad up is racing, 1 and dpad down is racing 2, 1 and A is FPS1 config (deprecated atm, could be substituted by Troopage config), 1 and B is FPS2/naggers IR and 1 by itself is default config.

Also to restore missing GC dpad mapping in naggers: Way one: press - in naggers and wiimote dpad acts like GC dpad. Press + in naggers and wiimote dpad goes back to normal (Z, Y, X, B or cstick when NC c is held).
Way two: map NC tilt when c is held to GC dpad.

Nope.
In a Wii game, press home button once and the game suspends while the home menu comes up. Press home again and game resumes. This in GC terms is essentially a pause.

2 button is game dependant on retail Wii games, either as map, scoretab, options or even unused.

I'm glad it wasnt so bad for you, but to say you prefer naggers config by far hurts. Lol

Yay, more suggestion that you like!

It may be radical, but I approve. It leaves - & + open for whatever, which is certainly better than reaching for 1 & 2.
If this goes through, the current configs that are using 1 & 2 would have to change to using - & +, so default and the 2 racing configs should have - as Y, and + as X. Abz can change his config's R and Z buttons to whichever since it is his config. :P
2 button is game dependant on retail Wii games, either as map, scoretab, options or even unused.
I would like to add that I have returned to the loader several times on accident since it is at HOME, so it is better to have return to loader on 2 since it is out of the way.

On a similar, yet different note. I would also suggest changing the default around by having C & D-Pad as C-Stick, and C & NC Tilt as L & R. The whole point of default is to have the labels match between the GC controller and the wiimote w/ NC, so this would actually be more accurate, and even better for play.
I would even go as far as having C & D-Pad as C-stick in the Racing configs, too

guys from a coding point of view we need to agree on which button changes the config and this will be used in all configs or it won't work, that's why troopage-dol has only 1 config

and... let's have a single pm conversation with all testers participating, this will make it easy to share dols and receive instant notifications

I think nakata and I are on the same page right now. What do you think of our suggestions?
To make things easier for you guys, I'll take all the config pics and edit them to match what nakata and I are thinking.
And nakata, both suggestions for the GC D-Pad in naggers configs are alright with me.

Troopage and i are indeed on the same page reading the posts and seeing the suggestions we made visualised in pm.
So yeah, lets do this! :)
I really think this is the final step to perfecting the beta, better configs for all slots, easier config selection, better loader handling and perfected FPS config as well.

OK, here is what the new improved beta will look like:

Button 1 will be the control config selector and button 2 will exit nintendont. So depending on what you press (new configs visualized by Troopage):
  • Button 2 = exit loader
  • Button 1 is default config
1.png
  • Button 1 & dpad right is naggers config
1 & RIGHT.png
  • Button 1 & dpad left is Abz config
1 & LEFT.png
  • Button 1 & dpad up is racing config
1 & UP.png
  • Button 1 & dpad down is racing 2 config
1 & DOWN.png
  • Button 1 & A is troops config
1 & A.png
  • Button 1 & B is FPS2/naggers IR config
1 & B.png

I'm glad that this is all finally coming together. Can we have my config just called Troops' Config? trooperz sounds like a reject '80s toy line.

OK :bortz::lol:

nakata6790, which one do you use the most for FPS games?
FPS2/naggers IR or the normal Naggers one?

Personally:
For FPS & TPS games: FPS2/naggers IR only
everything else: naggers

buttons 1 and 2 are so unpractical in all current configs, the only useful setup for 1 and 2 is horizontal wiimote which is still lacking
so I don't mind using them as exit and config select, but it's Howard's call too

After trying the test config I aggree that + and - are more usefull as playable buttons than for changing configs and start. In this case I will go with useability over consistancy. Slightly changed from what you are discussing.
1=Start (easier to get to)
2=Config change (leaves 1 for a config still pressing the same way)
Home=Exit (recessed button remains consistant with all bluetooth configurations do not want this one pressed by mistake)

A and B wont be used for configurations (differances in the buttons, they will be used some thing else later).

This group spent a lot of time discussing the config you wanted and WHY it was the best choice. Now it seems like your just making unthought out changes. forgetting about games that need real analog values for the cStick and triggers, Thinking that pressed or not pressed is good enough.

This is why I said it wont work well. In just about all your configs your talking about using the dpad as the cstick This dosent work at all in games that use the cStick as a joystick not as camera control. for things like aiming if you overshoot your target forget going back.

That's true that's why i was sceptical about it before as i said to Trooperz... However i think that naggers IR/FPS config is ideal for those games that require precise FPS & TPS aiming as it handily beats real GC cstick in accuracy and is ''analog''. For the rest of the games (3d platformers, racers, sports etc), the other newly suggested configs (naggers in my case) are pretty comfortable and playable after testing. I think Trooperz's suggestion was very good in the end, along with the L1/2, R1/2 one.

So all genres are covered in the end :)
