With european 3DS attwifi and _The Cloud are now longer detected as a Nintendo Zone (no shining around Nintendo Zone app)
NZ@McD1 is working but still no streetpass with the custom MAC (I'll check with the real MAC later)
For all of my script users with the updated 3DS firmware try this and report
- American region 3DS use just one list 49 (78 macs total, MAC change delay 7 minutes)
- European region 3DS change AP name to NZ@McD1 and use only list 78 (32 macs total, MAC change delay 15 minutes)
Windows users most probably completely lost the ability to have a homepass.
Also we need to get a working Nintendo zone SSID list
Yeah, this appears to be the case, i'm getting streetpasses again. Some good news: I woke up, tried with some custom MACs (such as 4E:53:50:4F:4F:46 and 64:1C:67:5A:E3:B6 - this one is from a friend that first noticed the current problem after the update, and tell that to me), and got some hits. I've used only the SSID "attwifi" in two US 3DS.
My guess: non-updated systems still receive the current Miis, but the updated systems need to "re-seed" each MAC in order to receive hits.
However, the Nintendo Zone icon doesn't glow anymore. But I didn't tried to access the app.
Since I get back to germany at October 9th, I can get MACs/SSID from certain hotspots (McDonald's @ Hamburg Airport and some McDonald's in my hometown) - if no one did a research yet.Off: Nintendo is going to distribute special demo version of new Pokemon through hotspots. Can anyone get MAC/SSID info from any mcdonalds nintendo zone hotspot in Germany?
I also updated to 9.0.0.20 and attwifi doesn't seem to work with european 3DS consoles anymore. With european 3DS attwifi and _The Cloud are now longer detected as a Nintendo Zone (no shining around Nintendo Zone app)

EDIT:
Since I renamed my network to NZ@McD1, I only got german Miis (with attwifi it was mostly USA Miis, but also around the world).
I don't know if this was also before that update, but I think it might be worth mentioning.
I found out that using your homepass ssid with security doesn't work anymore and you have to delete the network profile from your 3DS.
since yesterday tried many MACs, but without success.
I hope homepass return as it was.
Try to disable the security key, leaving an open connection. Worked with me, but not for every MAC address since their Mii database to FW 9.X was wiped (sort of). Will try more MACs later, at least I will be "seeding" them for other people. My two Miis are "KaleoΩ 2DS" and "KaleoΩ XL".
...
Even with an American 3DS, leaving the security key disabled, I've managed to access the German Nintendo Zone NZ@McD1 (posted by duke_srg above), even the app starts to glow - however, only saw some Animal Crossing related things at German Nintendo Zone. Is it normal?
But the app doesn't work anymore with attwifi or _The Cloud.
Does this mean all the (official) StreetPass Relay Points in US changed (or will change) their SSIDs to anything new? Just curious about that.
attwifi works perfectly fine here on my EU 3DS, so, do not see why it shouldn't work for you. Did you remove the attwifi network profile from your network profiles? I tested an open attwifi point without deleting it and it didn't work, after deleting it, it worked perfectly fine.
