So the last time there was a scheduled eshop update, i bought some eshop games (using gw emunand) and the next day, ninty updated the eshop.

Fast forward in time, and GW updated their eshop compatibility, and I went and updated the gw fw/emunand. I lost all my purchased eshop games upon restart. My user info and eshop info didn't change. My account was linked to the WWW. Eshop website and it showed I had purchased those games, but it would NOT let me redownload.

I followed the gw and site instructions for updating the emunand, so what went wrong, and how can I do the next update without losing my games and having to rebuy again?? Thanks!

always keep a backup of your emunand when it has all the content and a backup of the SD card contents with it, then no matter what you can always restore back to that point and have your games back..........im pretty sure they should of still been accessible, what did you do to update emunand? did you format over it again? you should of just left it as it was and proceeded to update and they would of stayed exactly how they where

Yeah don't format emunand again if you're already using emunand. If you made a back up you can restore it, and then update to get everything working.

I'm not terribly concerned about trying to restore, since I bought some new games since then on eshop.
I probably did format it, following the guide. So you're saying there's a way to update the emunand without formatting it first? Thanks for clarifying!

you only need to format the very first time, once you have emunand set up you can just update that emunand as and when nintendo release updates (once they are confirmed working for emunand)

its still recommended you make a backup of your current emunand and SD contents just in case your SD card fails or anything like that, just zip it all up and store on your PC/Laptop and then you will always have a backup of your eshop contents should you loose them for any reason

Yes, formatting is only required for people who have never used emuNand. But now that you say you don't care and already bought some stuff, I recommend you use the EmuNAND Tool to back up your current one.
