Yea that's my point. It's best to just hold onto what you got. When I did iPhone work, it was the same. People just quote things like "if you want a release sooner" but I put no faith in that.

so can anyone explain what the exploit will do? will it be anything useful like homebrew channel or is it mainly just hello world basic stuff? just deciding if it's worth staying offline for a while till we here more news about this "exploit".

The exploit wasn't really "removed" from the looks of it, Marionumber1 only mentioned that some addresses were changed, but it still can be used.

Is this a solid confirmation
Marionumber1 is working with Wii U hacking, so I would say so. Ask him if you're unsure. Post 157 on the last page.

Do not update this update seems to fix a certain exploit in the browser.

That's good to know but since my WU isn't hacked I'm A-OK to update it.

I've thought about hacking it but eh, don't really care I just wanna play my WU games that I purchase.

not to curb or even rationalize the pandemic level of hysteria hereabouts, but who infected the chicken littles with the thought that a public exploit is imminent?

this feels a bit like the cart isn't necessarily before the horse, but before the cart and horse in front of it...remember how we all stopped buying ice cars when the tesla was announced?

I actually bought a brand new white wii u for £60 off ebay a while back( no gamepad cables etc) to go along side my main wii u, So if nintendo updated the firmware I had a spare one for homebrew if it was ever released.
Off to play mario kart now

I mean no disrespect to Marionumber1, but I'm going to wait to hear from more than one source that the update is safe before I download it.

This one nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net

I have that blocked in my router, and have for months, but mine still updated a few updates back. I wanted to update at that time, so I could get something off the eshop, but after I had my WiiU on I was all, oh crap, I gotta go over to the computer and unblock that server, but then the thing updated anyway before I unblocked anything.

No, I'm not confusing it with the URL in the other thread, I have -both- of them blocked in my router.

Yes, I have my router configured correctly, and other blocked stuff in there (like Sony stuff blocked for my PS3) is actually being blocked.

Mario Kart 8 will update Wii U's to 4.1.0U from the disc if the internet is disabled on it. I took a big chance but I'm sure you will appreciate it since it's debatably the best version to have right now lol. I hate how 5.0 allows the Wii U to update whenever it wants. I have 2 Wii U's because of this, one will stay updated while one stays on 4.1.0.
