If you are using the official forwarder, update it. (you'll find the latest version 5.1 on googlecode download page)
If you are using your own forwarder, you need to edit the tmd to add AHB access. if you need that, I can do more search to tell you how to do it.

It's not your Wii that does not like emunand as all wii's are the same.
I think you best invest in a proper HDD setup, cIOS installation.
if you need help, give a shout.
Oh and to be clear, a sneek nand dump does not work with usb loader gx.
YOu need to dump your Wii's NAND first using usb loader gx's built in nanddumper.

Yes.

I tried with a USB Drive and a SD Card
I tried dump it on ULGX
I tried build it with Modmii
I tried to install .wads with ShowMiiWads...

I dont know what is wrong.:hateit:

Check your emunand path and emu channel path. ( from the paths option in usbl gx.
Make sure you are using the latest usb loader gx beta release ( NOT the stock 3.0 release )
Make sure you have enough space and dump your nand from usbl gx.
also beforehand make sure you usbl gx is booted with cIOS d2x beta 249.

Afterwards check if your nand is properly dumped to your previous set path.

( for better compatibilty and usage of different cIOS than d2x, place your nand udmp to the root of the device you want to dump it to.
this way it will be possible to use waninkoko cIOS rev 17/19 to solve compatibilty problems for some channels, for example games like bonsai barber.
You will need some customized cIOS for this that will install in slots 247 and 248 along side you typical slot 249 and 250 setup.
. This way you will have 4+ cIOS to choose from for booting your games and channels.) If your nand dump is in a folder you can only use a cIOS based on d2x. If so Usbl gx will prompt you.

Before using emunand saving you should know that NOT ALL games are compatible.
Also make sure your games are booted with d2x cIOS ( probably in slots 249 and 250 based off off ios56 and 57.
If your signature is up to date and a representation of your Wii softmod setup, I recommend updating your cIOS configuration.
In my experience it is best to set it full emunand in the overall options, so that all games try to use it by default.
This way if you have problems for a game your can easily disable emunand saving on a per game game basis from the games setting menu.
An other method is, to first make a save on your real Wii's nand, then transfer it to your emunand using usb loader gx hdd options. ( tranfer Mii's and saves )
Some games might be able to use emunand afterwards using this method.

If all else fails, you problaby have incompatible sd cards, Hardrive.
Or you have a device not properly formatted.

You could opt to use cfg loader and or Wiiflow but these are not as user friendly I think.
For instance in usb loader GX you can set everything right from it's loader gui.
For cfg loader and Wiiflow you will need a PC to set things up.

If you really want to go all the way, take a look at uneek+DI.
I reccomend using the uneek build and emunand for this pack: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jcc59ml7...tracted/_Fresh_Emunand_4.3_Uneek_DI_Rev96?lst

My experience is that modmii does not builds/ setup sneek properly, resulting is black screens etc.

For you information: I use usb loader GX daily and also use uneek to have 100% channel/ game/ region compatiblty without having to swallow in settings and custom setups.
If I cannot get a channel to work from usb loader gx taking the usual steps, I revert to uneek.
With the linked emunand package you can use the same instance of the emunand for uneek and gx

Extract your wad content to edit the tmd in a hexeditor.
Go to 0x1d8 in the tmd, and replace 0x00000000 to 0x00000003

205060-AHB_access_TMD_0x1d8.png

(or 0xFFFFFFFF) but only the first two bits are checked if I remember correctly.
bit 0 is for ALL hardware access from PPC, bit 1 is for DI DVD video (DVDX) only. Other bits are probably for individual hardware, but it's not required if you set bit 0.

save the tmd and put it back in your wad.
(or you can use ftpii or wiixplorer to replace the tmd file directly in NAND)

Did you put meta.xml in Nintendont folder ?
Is this the official USBLGX forwarder ?

this is not a theme : http://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-891#post-4984820

compiled USBLGX 1226/1227 tabmod (for cIOS249) here
sources (patched files only, you have to overwrite original sources files ith these and recompile) here

I LOVE IT! I think this is an ingenious idea. However I do have one question - How do I get my WiiWare games to show in the WiiWare Tab? I am getting disc games and WiiWare games in the first tab and GC in the GC tab, but my WiiWare is empty. Thanks a bunch!

chazman14 : on the Wii tab, click the 4th icon (to the right of the "ABC" icon) and check only Wii games

then go to the Wiiware tab, click again the 4th icon, and check only emuNAND

Need help with USB Loader GX. I BADLY wanted this to work perfectly, same as CFG Loader MOD as it looks a lot better and very easy to use.

A few games freezes on my 500GB HDD (FAT32 (GameCube, Apps, EmuNand) and NTFS (Wii)) i.e. Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Prime 3, etc. But the same games work perfectly on CFG Loader MOD. I have tried to copy the settings off cfg mod and use the same on gx, but still the same.

Here is my syscheck:

MIOS v10 (DIOS MIOS 2.6.1+)

Report generated on 2014/05/14.

I have tried upgrading d2x to v10 then downgrade to v8 before to see if it makes the difference, but to no avail. I have opted to stay on v8.

I would really like USB Loader GX to work. I don't mind CFG Loader Mod, but I just really like the look and user friendliness of GX and complete independent-ness to use a pc to change settings.

Are there any IOS specific that I need to change/upgrade or is it USB Loader GX specific game settings that I need to change? All my ROMs are NTSC and already changed the video mode to Force NTSC, still the same.

Again, no problem at all with CFG Loader MOD rev 75.

Please help..

Edit:
Updated already IOS 245 to 251 d2x v10 Beta 52. Still the same.

currently trying to upgrade IOS 222-224 to Hermes' v5.1 . Hoping that it will make a difference.

Skanob:
You don't need to update the Hermes cIOSes.
They are not even required.
Usually the loader works fine with d2x v8, with all partitions formats and all games.

1. verify that the Loader's IOS and Game's IOS are both set to 249 (in the settings > Loader settings).

2. You are using NTFS for wii games?
Are you keeping the full ISO for games? or converting them in .wbfs files?

3. Try to defragment the partition

I don't know what else to suggest.
Maybe try to put the games in FAT32 partition (use WiiBackupManager, it will copy and convert the game format correctly to work with FAT32, even for games bigger than 4GB)

Kimotori:
I think you can set the BG volume to 0 to disable it.
If you really want to remove the BG sound, you can replace the sound file with a silent one in the sources and recompile.
Or you can set theme with an empty sound file as BG music, you won't need to recompile.

Thanks. This is how it is set up, but there are still no WiiWare channels in the WiiWare tab, and they are also not in the Wii tab.

This post is completely wiiware related, I'm wondering if this is a known issue or maybe a bug or maybe just something dumb I did.

I've noticed both on my Wii and Wii U that when installing some games from the Wii Shop Channel and then doing a "dump nand to emunand" that the banners are missing in some of the games afterward. I literally have to go to loader mode, unselect and reselect nand channels and/or emunand channels to get the banners to show. BurgerTime World Tour seems to be a good example of this. In a .wad scenario using retroarch-wii forwarder, I get the same exact issue. Also, if I install it as a .wad in USB Loader GX in vWii it says the .wad installs fine but then won't load the forwarder at all, it just resets vWii. I'm thinking that USB Loader GX isn't using ios 236 when installing on vWii? Honestly not sure if ios 236 is even needed for that, I know I just installed it anyway when following the vWii hack guide.

If this is an issue and is looking at getting fixed I'd also like to request a batch install for .wads like multi-mod-manager does.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I have to reload USB Loader GX after dumping to get the dumped channels to show up. I also have everything USB Loader GX related in settings/custom paths saving to the USB hard drive to save space on my SD card.

I had reports about black banners, but never could reproduce it and users couldn't find what caused that issue.

USBLoaderGX doesn't use 236 (unless you tell it to use it). It's using slot 249 by default (or 58 if no cIOS is installed).

The "install wad" menu in USBLoaderGX doesn't install Wad on the console!
It installs wad to EmuNAND (you need to correctly setup an emuNAND dump to use it).
You should install Forwarders in RealNAND, not in emuNAND.
Launching a forwarder after the cIOS initiated the NAND redirection is probably why it resets your console. I never tried and don't know how it would behave.

Hi guys. I bought a used Wii 6 years after selling mine, with the idea of having the games I have (10 as of now), on a USB hard drive like I used to.

In the past, the only option was WBFS, but now we have loaders that support FAT32 and even NTFS, which I prefer, so I started a quest to see how do I hack the Wii, how do I install HBC, what cIOS are best today (in my time it was Hermes cIOS and uLoader), etc, etc.

It is a little bit confusing because there are hundred of different tutorials with contradicting information, some seem to be outdated, but in the end, I followed "How to SoftMod a Wii to Play Backup Wii, Gamecube and Wiiware Games" tutorial up to the "4. Install USB Loader GX and Custom IOS" step, and it worked! I was able to use USB Loader GX with a WBFS partition.

I then proceeded to format the SAME USB drive on NTFS, and loaded my game as .wbfs inside the WBFS folder, but USB Loader GX would not recognize them.

I even tried to "rip" from USB Loader GX to the NTFS partition, and I would get a black screen of dead, like the cIOS do not support NTFS.

What should I do? How can I make sure that the cIOS are ok or need to be upgraded? To what do I upgrade them? THANKS!

Yes I know that it uses 249 by default and I also know "install WAD..." installs to the EmuNAND and that's where I want it. My EmuNAND does work for the most part but it acts quirky at times. I'm also assuming there is no limit to the amount of wiiware that can be installed to the EmuNAND. I do not know what you mean by correctly setting up an EmuNAND after dumping it since after dumping it works anyway. I have NAND Saves Emulation and NAND Channel Emulation set to Full. Is there another app to use? Do I need a common key?

I want to use it seeing that N64 games are quite large which is also the reason why I have EmuNAND saving to my USB drive. I used the retroarch-wii forwarder as an example for .wads and figured I'd mention it since it's behavior is the same. As stated before, when installing using "Install WAD to EmuNAND" it doesn't work at all but when installing using MMM or PimpMyWii while having ios236 loaded then using "dump NAND to EmuNAND" it works just fine. I was wondering if USB Loader GX needs to use 236 in vWii for "install WAD..." to work correctly. On vWii with a fresh dump of the NAND to my SD card, I get the same result of it resetting and the banner showing up is a hit or miss. I even tried manually changing the ios that USB Loader GX uses to 236, restarting and then installing directly to EmuNAND and same result.

As for the black banners, I noticed that if I only have EmuNAND checked after a dump and go to look at an app then the banner is missing. If I check NAND and then go look at the NAND version USB Loader GX freezes for about 3 seconds and then I have the banner for both the NAND and EmuNAND channels so I'm assuming it's pulling the banner from the NAND to the cache folder.

As I mentioned earlier, my EmuNAND on my vWii does act quirky imo bc there's been at least 2 occasions where all the wiiware stopped working and just reset the console and I have to go through painful install process I've previously described all over again. I do not know if keeping it saved to the USB causes this or if it's something the Wii U has done.

I recommend plugging your usb hard drive into your pc and using wii backup manager. It'll setup your folder properly. You can find it at http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/downloads.html

Thanks. I tried it, but it does not works. I suspect that I don't have the correct cIOS or cIOS version.

This is definitely possible, there's apps to help with that. Modmii is the safer bet which can be downloaded at http://www.wii-homebrew.com/download/nintendo-wii-downloads/pc-tools/modmii

Or you can try your luck with PimpMyWii which people have reported that it has bricked their Wiis, personally I've never had problems with it. It can be found at http://www.wii-homebrew.com/downloa...ads/firmware-und-hacks/originale/pimp-my-wii/

Also, you can have a look at Cyan's sig and set your wii up like he has his. On mine I got rid of wanikoko and hermes IOSes and just have d2x and Dios Mios installed.

I already downloaded it, but I haven't tried it yet.

I very much like PimpMyWii, but I was not able to successfully use it the last time I tried, I mean, it updated everything, but the loaders would crash.

Also, you can have a look at Cyan's sig and set your wii up like he has his. On mine I got rid of wanikoko and hermes IOSes and just have d2x and Dios Mios installed.
As far as I understand Cyan has IOS249rev17, IOS250[56]d2x v8 final, IOS251[56]d2x v9 r49, 202[38+60]v4, 222[38+37]v4 and 223[57]v5.1 installed. You say that of all those, you only have the two d2x and Dios Mios?

How can I get IOS249rev17, 202[38+60]v4, 222[38+37]v4 and 223[57]v5.1? How can I install them? With PympMyWii? I just want to have 1~3 cIOS for Wii Games, and at most 1~3 for GC Games.

Thanks.
