UPDATE May 29th: the project has been successfully funded! It is really coming to life. Expect more updates soon with the first ever GBAtemp styled luggage! Read the whole post below for more information...

Original post May 2nd:
A close friend of mine has just launched a Kickstarter-backed project called Ugobags: Style your trip with unlimited possibilities. The project will allow people to order suitcases from their website in a fully customizable way: either select one of their preconfigured designs, or design your suitcase entirely: upload your own logo or select an existing picture, create a pattern based on several colors, customize the different parts of the suitcase...

You may wonder: what is the purpose of a customizable suitcase? Well if you have ever travelled around a bit like I have, you'll get the idea. The main reason why I personally love this is for the moment when you get to pick up your luggage after a long flight. Looking for your regular/overly common black suitcase among hundreds of other similar looking ones can be a major pain in the ass. Well no more! You can immediately identify your luggage because it's unique. You've designed it yoursef. And if you get a GBAtemp themed suitcase you'll be spreading the GBAtemp love around the world!

Partnership with GBAtemp
So I have talked with my friend who's behind the project. They are going to have preconfigured GBAtemp designs from day 1! That means the day their website launches, people will be able to create their own GBAtemp-styled suitcase, selecting a logo (similar to the one at the top of this article) and customizing the parts: case color, wheels, bumpers, handles... In addition to that, you can get a 25% discount right now if you back the project on Kickstarter!

I have accepted to let them use our exclusive GBAtemp mascot design under one condition: for every sale they make with our mascot, a certain amount of the benefits will be donated to a charity. Yes, that's how we roll at GBAtemp: we're a non profit organization so we will be donating everything we get out of this to a charity. Which one though? Well that will be for you to decide! Once we decide that we've got enough, we will let you, the community, vote for the charity of your choice. After which we will make an official donation of all our gains from this operation. Isn't that sweet? More info will be provided later as the project launches. In the meantime go ahead and back them on Kickstarter, every single dollar will be helpful!

 Check out Ugobags on Kickstarter
 Their official website is open but doesn't yet allow orders
 Not sure how you feel about this yet? Read this review from a professional traveler who's got their hands on one of these babies

Spread the news around you! The more you do, the more likely people are to order GBAtemp styled suitcases in the future, which means extra money for charities. Stay tuned!

I just read a review of the suitcase itself (you still need to consider the quality of the suitcase, beyond just the external appearance)
http://thevacationgals.com/ugobags-customized-luggage/
seems like it's really nice too, they put a lot of effort in making this really handy.
I'm definitely going to get my own GBAtemp themed one! will post pictures as soon as I get it

Nice, I'll buy one so I can bring all of my HDDS full of pirated totally legit promise ROMs and ISOs with me wherever I got!

EDIT: In all seriousness though, I've been in need of a new suit case for a while now since the one I have currently is starting to tear, might look into this.

I think you overestimate the amount of tempers that leave their homes and require luggage, let alone leave their home at all. :P

Seriously, though, they do look pretty nice. I'm pretty much set as is, but still, best of luck on the campaign.

Not that bad but cost too much for a non designer bag >.>; (Tho due to the cheap ones I buy/the luggage handlers I have to get a new suitcase every flight or 2....) Will these come with a good warranty of any kind, cause lately they tear up any bag you throw at them...?

I'm going to get the black 3-bag set with the GBAtemp logo.

If I can customize it with this additional icon "Den" in the bottom-left corner, even sweeter:

As for a charity, I'm for anything that goes to orphans, cancer research/treatment, disaster victims or humane treatment of animals :yay:

looking at all the designs on the kickstarter , they seem to be all down the middle like a kinda sticker set up .. which made me wonder ,, i cant see how the image is applied to the case,, surely not just a sticker right ?

anyway Cancer trust for a charity for sure.

Looks interesting. Don't need any luggage though so I'd pass this time round. Not exactly rolling in cash so I can't just purchase this just because. Might get weighing scale + tag maybe.

Hmm good point...I just now noticed that all the designs are on a strip down the middle. I could have the "Den" logo at the bottom center, though it wouldn't look as aesthetically pleasing.

Looking at the video, the custom design looks shiny and matches the finish of the hard case pretty well. I'm kind of hoping they're silk-screened on and not just stuck on like a decal. But if it supports the site and a charity that I can really get behind, I'll still seriously consider it.

I took my wife to Manchester airport yesterday as she is going to Germany for a week and the whole time she cursed about the ancient vinyl case she had to use.
I think I will invest in one or two of these ready for when we go to Disneyland in 2015!

Never been a particular fan of rigid suitcases (seems a waste of a valuable few hundred grams that I could fit more sweets in) but I hope it goes well.

Gahars I will have you know I have been living out of a suitcase for years. Mainly as I have been too lazy to put things back in drawers since I went on holiday some 10 years ago and otherwise favour the "store on the drying rack" approach to life but the point holds.

actually I was skeptical too but read the review linked from the article: they state the suitcase is actually really lightweight.
so that's a good point going on for them. Once I get mine, I will be able to compare with my other suitcases (which I carefully selected for their lightness)
