I lost my sd card reader and I can't read the sd anymore. Is there anyway I can load roms on SNES 9X GX through USB or DVD? I have a 500gb hdd and iphone (if that does anything) and dvd-r. If there is a method, I will greatly appreciate it.

By the look of it, just copy the files to the USB drive like you would to the SD card. I don't know if NTFS is supported, probably not.
But the GX emus all seem to be able to load games also from burned DVDs and over the network from a SMB share (Windows standard network share stuff) with the right folder structure. You can look up the documentation for that i.e. on Wiibrew.
But I've never tried any of it. You would probably save yourself some hassle if you simply buy a SD reader for 5 bucks. Or transfer the files to you Wii SD card with ftpii or something like that.

You would have to make a new roms folder on your hdd, then change the rom path in the emulator settings, I think fat32 only?
But probably easier to just buy a reader at the dollar store.

Edit....and some emulators can run roms off DVD, not sure about SNES?

You can get a cheap SD card reader for only a few bucks on sites like http://www.dealextreme.com or eBay.
You can definitely load roms off the USB HDD but it would be a good idea to get a new SD card reader anyway otherwise updating your homebrew and softmod will be a pain.
Edit: If you have a laptop it probably has a SD card reader built in that you can use.

I think you will need a FAT 32 partition to recognize your roms on the HDD

I think SD Card is much better than run the games through a DVD
unnecessary wear to the drive of your wii
when you can buy a sd card 4 or 8gb which are very cheap and can fit tons of roms

On the HBC you press 1 on the Wiimote and a pop up window will let you choose a different device. You can still just launch via the SD card and load the roms from another medium.
