OK, so now we need to know how to use that on a updated 3DS and not the ones with lower firmware. Has there been any progress? What would be needed to get into the system with say the actual FW on it?

Nope. There has been no new progress on finding any exploits on 6.x firmwares.

If there is any new exploit, this region free hack can easily be made to work. This is a non issue once new exploits are located. But... The chance of a new exploit being found is extremely small. Look at the ps3.

It's mostly that people stopped looking on the PS3. All the hackers stayed on the lower firmware until they discovered how to create newer MFWs, so none of them have any reason to look for an exploit in newer firmwares.

Anyone know what FW is required for MH4? If its good, I'll be buying a new 3DS and a GW card.

Are you intending to play online? Because you'll need a Japanese 3DS. Why? Look it up.

Well doesn't matter either way. Either there is no more exploits or hackers giving up on newer firmwares. This makes no difference

I agree with the people saying the title is misleading. It says "No flashcards". It doesn't say "No 3DS flashcards." Pretty big difference. You can't just assume everyone already has a DS flashcard

in the Post it does say "no 3DS Flashcards"

it can be done without flashcards but you would need to know how to edit retail DS saves to make them install the MSET exploit

Please read what this does.

It's almost as though someone told you this is a red apple and you still had to ask if the apple is purple.

To answer your question. No. You still need emunand. This is just a method of region freeing a 4.5 3ds

Actually if it's working exactly like the gateway launcher, it will indeed allow you to boot games that require higher firmwares, without setting up emunand.........so it might be purple apples after all

Also some information for people

this Makes the Console Region Free and Spoofs the Frimware and uses Higher SDK patches

so it will play the 5.0+ SDK Games (Zelda LBW and Batman etc) without the need for EmuNAND

Thank you so much, amazing work!

Thanks for answer, but you were wrong. BTW, what colour is your apple?

the only reason to use the EmuNAND is to be able to use the Nintendo Network, E-shop and MiiPlaza
Just one two quick question: So if I play Pokemon with emuNAND 7.0 onwards from the beginning there won't be any issues because the game generates a 6.0.0 save file?
There will only be a problem if I play Pokemon with a firmware lower than 6.0.0 first and then try to play it on a higher firmware, am I correct?

Online does not effect me, as I suffer with shitty internet, but yeah, is it a pre 7.0.0 game?

No the issue is playing it on emunand, you can play it fine but only a retail 6.x + firmware has access to the new encryption keys, so saves between emunand and retail have used a different encryption key so will not be accessible either way around! it's one or the other no mix and matching

Just to clarify, you either play on emunand from the offset, or retail from the offset,
It will work fine either way unless you try to change what your playing on after starting......then you will need to start again

Ooooh interesting point........ Has anyone noticed, if the gateway launcher is still dumping the saves if you exit to the home menu?

EDIT: just tried and it doesn't :P

is this a yes just because it is a retail cart? and using gateway the old crypt stuff is used, regardless of the 3ds firmware version?

edit- i don't want to ever have to even worry about the save/corruption/6.0.0 type save, what can i do to make sure i will never have to worry about it?

You are getting way ahead of yourself.

At this point of time, there are only two games with this issue. AC:NL and PokeX/Y. If you create a save game on a non 4.5 3ds, you cannot load it on a 4.5 3ds regardless of emunand.

Another way of putting this is, playing pokemon on non-hacked/moddable 3ds renders the save file unloadable on a hacker/moddable 4.5 3ds

If you don't want to EVER have to worry about save corruption, you can either stay on 4.5 forever and never update or update right now. If you have a save file and then update your system nand OR play it on an updated 3DS your save may/will corrupt. If you already have a save file that was created on 6.0+, it will be corrupted if you try to play it with emuNAND and this is unlikely to change any time in the coming year or so at least.

If you play Pokemon with emuNAND, it will generate a 4.5 save file because emuNAND does not modify the key used for saves. If you then try to play it on a 3DS with an updated system NAND, your save file will corrupt. Same thing goes for the other way around. It's fine if you just stay on 4.5 forever, but if you update it or play it on an updated console, bye saves.
