ive asked about more skins for the r4i 3ds card. and was told that there isn't any other than whats on the site. but I went over to acekard 2i website and downloaded one of the skins and they have the identical setup as the r4i 3ds cards. is it possible to use them as a skin for the r4i card since there isn't very many choices on the r4i site.

Don't over think it; All you have to do is delete the Launcher.dat in you SD card and replace it with the new one and voila you're done.

With the new update on gateway 2.02B full support for emunand 7.1 and eshop working. Does pokemon work or do I still need the game? Kinda want too get my hands on some X pokemons and maybe clone some pokemons

That's different as My advice is to back up everything from the SD card and start from scratch. First formatting the emunand then going into Gateway mode and updating from there but when you do remember to look for the GW3D which replace the VER. to make sure it it safe to update. It's possible to just update from 6.3 to 7.1 via Emunand without first formatting but it's people preferences.

Pokemon x/y and animal crossing still does not work via Gateway but Classic with the Retail. Trust me if they already did you would see threads popping left to right about it

stupid questions, but to be safe: updating my emuNand 6.3 to 7.X won't affect my ownership of eshop games (I will back up the SD beforehand just in case)?

also I'm not too sure how to get n1ghty's SD emuNand backup tool to work b/c I can't find the emuNand to backup in my 3ds SD (since it's in that seperate partition?). on win8, any help would be appreciated...

No question is stupid here it's just being safe that's all. To answer your question no I don't think it will affect your ownership of Eshop games but now since they have added NinID It'll probably be link to the account. As for the n1ghty's emunand Backup tool all you have to do is plug in your SD card to your computer and launch the program. It will auto detect where it is and just Press Extract to extract the Nand and chose a location. To inject is similar but you chose where is the Nand file is on your computer and allow it to inject to your SD.

To answer your post I believe you should try it out and see for your self; Considering the R4I still uses the same bases as wood R4 it's just a matter of drag and drop. Just make a back up before doing so and if the skin doesn't work out just replace it with your old files.

Does the size and class of the microSD card matter? I was looking to get a 32gb Class 10 but I had read on the maxconsole forums that some 32gb cards weren't compatible with Gateway3ds. Any known issues there?

well I tested about 45 skins from acekard.com website and out of the 45 all worked but 2 that I tested. the ones that doesn't have a trigger to press to bring up the menu you have to press the start button and it works flawlessly. this is for the r4i 3ds card and I did a search for that card in the forms and nothing came up so im sorry if this post doesn't belong here. but for the ones that are curious about different skins cause they only have like 15 to 20 on their site they aren't that great you can use the acekard.com skins just test before keeping them.

Aye. You just might want to consider getting a bigger SD card for the 3DS too in case you still got a 2GB one, as the emunand takes up roughly 1 GB

Unless you do have a backup of your 3DS unique nand with a firmware below 5.0 soldering alone wont help you at this time.

Therefore your only viable option (besides the usual snarky "find an exploit on your own" reply) is to get a 3DS(XL) with firmware at or below 4.5.

Of course you can! As long as you have a NAND copy of that 3ds 4.x firmware.
