Hi I was going to sell some of my actual game carts but the games do not provide a way to delete the saves. Now this save corruption thingy comes in handy, which has an effect of triggering the actual game carts to reset the save data and gives you a brand new game cart ready for selling.

Here are the steps: (not minimum, but enough)
1. Play the actual game cart once and save
2. Exit to Home
3. Go System Settings->Other Settings->Profile->Hold L then Nintendo DS Profile to open up GW menu
4. While the actual game cart is still put in, start diagnostic test, you should see 3 FAILs and one OK!
5. Power off and power back on the console
6. Start the game cart, you should see some screens or creating save messages as if you have just bought the game new
7. Check the saves are all gone, profit!

I have done this to couple of games I am going to sell, play, clear, play, clear, none have any problem so far. Just to share :grog:

I never got what the big deal was. I mean unless a game is asking for your credit card info (and that would be weird) what's the big deal about wiping saves before you sell a used game? Isn't it the new owner's "problem" if for some reason he can't stand saving over your old saves instead of a pristine one?

(I understand there is some issue with a few games like that one RE game everyone was all annoyed at where stuff changes gamewide, but I mean that's like what, a one in a hundred games that do stuff like that)

Cool find, but just kinda pointless for the most part.

Ah right, motivations. Selling a used game or selling a "new" game online makes a difference. Some games keep not just the game progress, but also keeps achievements and unlockables (like SSF4), buyers will be annoyed when all the things are unlocked or already achieved. So this method is also valuable when you want to reset the achievements so that you can achieve again and again for your own pleasure :rofl2:

This might work with Blazblue Continuum shift II, I remember it was impossible to delete the save data.

If someone has the game that could be good to try it.

It might be the new owners problem... But if it's a problem to the new owner, then the new owner won't want to buy it, meaning it'll be the previous owner's problem.
It's all about sellability. People are more inclined to buy a cart that has its saves wiped. And a seller of course wants people that are inclined to buy!

Pokémon X and Y are easy to wipe the save, I did it myself without using any sort of Gateway hack.

Another method, if you have a save dongle like the R4i one, NDS Adaptor Plus, etc, is to just restore some bogus data to the save area and turn it on, the game will (obviously) say it's corrupted and erase the save.

Well I think the save dongles are not compatible with the new games.

You don't need a save dongle for X/Y. There's a certain button combo you press at the title screen and it asks if you want to erase your save data. Even lets you select the language again. Google it, I'm not sure offhand, but every Pokémon game I can remember has had an option inside the game to do it.
