Wait a sec, everyone's talking about CFW, but don't we need a flaw in the startup security checks or something in order to get a CFW? Wasn't it so, that if there's no flaw, that there also is no CFW possible?

why do people keep saying this? this gets thrown into every thread about 3ds hacks, and even on the other 2 threads about smea's progress. every time someone said that, he explicitly said that he never said anything about not releasing his work and for people to stop putting words in his mouth.

lets wait until he says something about his plans for the project before spreading rumors that it won't be released.

assuming smea's exploit is a version of the current 4.1-4.5 exploit, you know that it is already patched, right?

but your post is 100% speculation and run exact opposite to statements made by smea in the past.

the only person who knows for sure what his plans are is smea himself (well, and the team he is working with), but everything he has said up to this point leans heavily towards release as opposed to your claim.

R4 disaster.
R4 was hacked and copied a billion times.
Due to it being copied a billion times, it became incredibly cheap.
And ofcourse scumbags want everything for pretty much nothing.
That + social media fueled it.

DS games sold pretty well tho, due to the easily availability of the R4.
How ironic it might be, piracy made the DS popular.

I completely agree. If it wasn't for the R4 cart, I would've never bought quite a few games that I would've passed over otherwise. Like Feel The Magic, Magical Starsign, Elite Beat Agents, or The Legendary Starfy just to name a few.

emulators are piracy and saelum is against piracy from what i read

granted if there is homebrew, there will be rom launchers and emulators

The exploit is already patched. The community just mentioned that an exploit was found when 4.5 was the latest firmware and that was enough for the next update to have a patch for it.
