So despite the roms being released... They don't work on Gateway at all.

I gotta hand it to Nintendo though. They finally figured out how to combat piracy on one of the biggest 3DS games of the year, and that is one hell of an accomplishment to pull off!
It was pretty much implied that the Gateway would only be good for games released before itself.
Pokemon is worth a purchase though, especially for online play.

What exactly IS NCSD? What does that stand for and why is it important to know? Never heard of it until now.

BTW, found this on NintendoLife. It may help to explain why Pokemon doesn't work:

"This updated firmware added support for a new gamecard savegame keyY generation method, enabled via NCSD flags. Every gamecard which has a system-update >= 2.2.0-X uses the keyY generation method added with 2.2.0-X, therefore every game which would release with this 6.0.0-X system-update would use this new keyY generation method."

Anyone actually try the ROMS on a European console?

I tried it and it's not working. European 3DS 4.5.0-10E.

I wonder how hard it's going to be for gateway to work over that new save method. I haven't emailed them but I'm sure some of you have. No responses or clues as to when part 2 of their update comes out and what it does huh?
I don't like waiting on a countdown clock that has no numbers on it.

Oh shut up, it will work somewhere in the future, i'll eat my pants if not

pics or it didn't happen brah ;)

and this is why I haven't fronted the 90 freakin' dollars yet. All noteworthy games won't work. And will most likely be temporarily fixed with a software update (until N fixes it) or a new cart revision with NAND support and anti-anti SD save restore will be needed. Either way. I don't see how it's worth it.

ON TOPIC: found it on one of those "T" word sites. Don't have a gateway but I wanted to see how big it was or if it's legit. (and yes. the "scene" has officialy said it's real) looks like it's at a whoping 1.71 GB. wholy shit. Definitely will be carrying that certified Nintendo troll bait, NAND save.

Au, de javu. Some how I think I have seen people said new Pokemon will not work with GW before.
But don't worry guy, team GW still not give up YET.
And i'm sure they still not let us down YET.

Hmm... I assume you mean that the $90 would be for a GW. I'm also going to assume for the purpose of this argument that you have a 3DS capable of using one.

Do you own pre-GW legit carts of every North America region (if your flag is correct) title that you have an interest in? Are there any games not released in NA that you would like to play? How many games fitting those criteria are there? If it's more than 3 then not being able to see how the GW is worth it means you are really bad at math... And if any of those games were only released in another region then you are REALLY REALLY bad at math.

Sorry to pick on you, but suggestions that a GW is "not worth $90" are patently dumb. Just for the games it will run now it is fiscally worth it. We have no idea what the GW team will come up w/ in the future to get other games running. They have said they are dedicated to 100% ROM compatibility, lets see if they can do that. Even if they can't (or don't) the cart is still well worth it even if every release from now on is blocked on the GW.

Has there been any word from the Gateway team over compatibility with the Gateway card?
I could have swore I saw somebody post that they emailed them but I can't find it. The website says not to email the sales team on technical things but go to the forums. I can't check them due to a firewall here at work but I doubt that forum posting is the way to go anyway. Who usually emails them?

I sent an email earlier as I'm on decent terms with them, I'll keep the site updated if it's anything meaningful (as in, front page most likely if significant).
