I want to enjoy nintendo console for the first time after NES, guys do you recommend buying used Wii now? In my country it listed at average price of $130, or I just jump to Wii U?

That's a tough call, I guess it depends on if you really want to play GC games.

The Wii-U can play everything else just fine, Wii games, hack the vWii and play all the emulators....

If you are really wanting to play GC games I would say get the Wii, if GC games are not the most important feature. Get the Wii-U it's a fun machine :)

Wii U is going to get some nice games late this year/next year. If you buy a Wii U, you will not have to worry about not being able to play the upcoming games.

However, Wii U is expensive. An old Wii can keep you busy for a while if you don't have the money.

Make game list called "I want to play them" and share it there.
Yes, Wii lacks any decent releases these days. But game library is quite decent. At least from N fan standpoint.

Does anyone know if Wii-U can load the same Channels, & Use the same IOS's and run with the Same USB Loaders and External HDD WBFS Backups as the Wii?

and does anyone know if Wii-U Can also be configured to use the same Game Emulators & play the same Back-up ROM files from Atari, NES etc?

If not.. Stick with Wii.. even if you dont own any Wii Games, Wii is worth it just for being able to play all your old games from all your old systems, all in one place

* IOS must specifically states it supports Wii U / vWii, or it'll brick vWii mode when you install it on WIi U. d2x has a specific version for vWIi.
* You can run homebrew on Wii inside vWii mode, so you do have the ability to use emulator inside vWii.

This is a dumb question. You should NOT install update meant for different region in the first place. If you do and it bricks, the fault is on you.

@OP
Buy the regular Wii, it'll hold you long enough for WIi U to improve.

Just buy a wiimote, a bluetooth adapter (if you didn't already have one), and install dolphin emulator. I believe a new stable version was just released (v4.0).

The only reason you'd want to get a Wii right now is if your computer is outdated. And I mean really outdated cause any dual-core 2.5 GHz+ can run dolphin.

wii bricks for anything

The fault is not "on me" when I travel internationally, and have several places of residence.. you cant take your wii anywhere with you.. want to travel? BUY A NEW WII or the fault is "on you"

I dont think so.

"regions" are ridiculous.. sure, region things out all you want.. BUT DONT BRICK MY Fn WII!!!!!!!

if you cant arange a system of having different regions AND at the same time, cant create a machine which doesnt brick itself, you're a fn retard..

but I dont think Nintendo is so innocently dumb.. they plan their wii to brick

want to use a game? it demands you 1st update.. and then, accidentally click the wrong button, because your 7 years old and cant read it anyway? we'll BRICK your wii.. "haha"

Bought your wii in the UK and want to use it in America? let us BRICK that for you first please.. now go buy a new one, or get back on your pirate ship and sail back to wherever it is you belong.

those scrubby little grommets over at Nincompoopendo should be beaten senseless with their own wiimote controllers

senseless..

to bloody pulps

Honestly, I'll probably never buy another Nintendo machine in my entire life.. I'm so fed up with their holier-than-thou antics, accusing every person on the planet of being a pirate, and bricking wiis like crazy for legitimate uses of people's own privately owned property

Wii should be sued and forced to pay 1 million dollars to each person whos wii they caused to be bricked for the user simply trying to do something completely legal with his own property

Nintendo thinks YOUR wii belongs to THEM

and they'll do whatever they dam well please with it

its like you buy a Honda, and then they flatten your tires & permanently seize your engine if you exceed the speed limit, or leave your state

I'm through with them

this wii with GC ports is the last nintendo thing I'll ever own.

Buy a used one if you want to play GC games, or just Wii games... If you want the latest and greatest option or used isn't an option, then buy a Wii U, but that's a big price jump from a used Wii, not as big from a new Wii given it'll have continued support. Here, you can get a used Wii for around $50-60 USD. Retail is $119.

See you confused me here. If you take Wii with you on travel it'll still download the correct firmware with the correct region online on its own. It will not use the update from out of region disc either.

Only when you hacked it then those thing might occurr, however hacking is not what Nintendo intended. So you cannot blame it on Nintendo. You only have yourself to blame.

about the ONLY thing that would make me buy a WiiU is A FEW new Star Wars games, a New Mortal Kombat, having Super SF4, and the games need to be exclusively for Wii

actually, does the Wii even have something like Kinect? I have to say, having NO Remote, is WAY better than using a wiimote.. that Kinect is a blast.. and the PS4 has something probably even better..

but what does the wii-u give you?

a gigantic gameboy to play your wii games on tv with.. you need two hands to do anything with it, its the size of an iPad, only much heavier, and has no gaming significance at all...

it doesnt resemble anything remotely like a game controller, and i cant see anyone actually enjoying using that thing..

AND it doesnt even support GameCube Controllers?

I'd say thats a big step backwards.. GC controllers are the only real Controllers Nintendo even has.

umm.. if i couldnt do anything else with my wii than what it came out of the box with, i'd throw it away already, it'd be totally useless

what nintedo does is seek out & punish anyone who's made any alterations to their wii..

and then they also have a homescreen with 50 empty channels?

its like they created it for their own personal hacks, for some devs and their immediate family.. but they want everyone else to be punished for doing anything custom to their wii

its indefensible, try as you may.. I get that you like nintendo, I grew up with the NES, even.. but this seek & destroy Bullcrap is ridiculous.. they know what they are doing, though you,, apparently, may not..

they force updates, and make it so tricky that 90% of kids and 60% of adults would probably not know how to even get out of the update screen..

they try at every turn to brick any wii thats had any sort of mod

if they are so radically anti-user base, and anti-mod, then they really should lose their customers..

I, for one, am not bending over and asking for more

Most people don't like the Kinect. You stand in front of the TV and wave your hands at it to make stuff move. With the Wii remote you've got something to hold, it lets you sit down, and it doesn't have trouble detecting black people.

The majority of gamers agree that it's a gimmick.

a gigantic gameboy to play your wii games on tv with.. you need two hands to do anything with it, its the size of an iPad, only much heavier, and has no gaming significance at all...

I love that you've already figured out how it feels and how it's integrated into gameplay even though you don't own one.

AND it doesnt even support GameCube Controllers?
Because every other system in the past has supported controllers that are a decade old.

Wait, I got that backwards.

Edit: ROFL!!!! I just read your other posts, and you have no clue what you are talking about. You're just throwing out random bullshit and hoping some of it won't get questioned!

Wii's are not meant to be taken with you anywhere. Yeah, region locks are stupid, but they're doing it because different regions have different age ratings and stuffs. If you want a travel device, use a laptop or a hand held.

"cant create a machine which doesnt brick itself, you're a fn retard.." -- make one yourself why don't ya

It's stupid, yeah, but the only solution is buying different Wii's or hacking them. Nintendo didn't think that it would be this big of a problem, but it is. Just buy games from the region you got your Wii.

^lol, just ignore him. It's fine to be ignorant, it's not fine to keep being ignorant when knowledge is out there. Those who do so can be ignored themselves. :P

The Wii U is amazing so I'd say it totally comes down to price. Wii nets you the chance to play Melee and other Gamecube hits and will save you some money but Wii U is going to let you play newer games and really bring some great upcoming gaming experiences, so I'd say if you can afford the Wii U and the games, get it, but otherwise go for the Wii. =)

you know.. if you could take that gigantic gameboy outside and play some wii-u games, that would be something else.. that frikkin thing is big enough to hold a Blueray Disk Drive in it..

but, you cant.. its like a nintendo device made for large wall-sized HD television sets AND, at the same time, made for people who cant be bothered with looking at the tv, and need yet another screen in their hands.

the main problem, as I see it, is that gigantic suitcase-sized controller machine, thats taken the place of most other systems move towards the remote-free, hands-only interaction

not only did they not give you kinect-like usage without a wiimote, they not only kept the wiimote, but gave you a giant bulky thing that nobody even knows the purpose of, which is also supposed to replace your Gamecube controllers

one thing I will say for it, the WiiFit & Wii Gold's Gym can just have you bench / curl/ squat / overhead press their new gym weight accessory/ remote
