Android best rom for Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 (international)

My phone has been acting up a lot more lately than ever before.

No clue whatsoever about custom roms or rooting.

Just want something stable, bug-free and smooth.
most importantly, STABLE, NO BUGS AND SMOOTH! lol


Not looking into amazing features.. just the things stated above.

CyanogenMod, AOKP or Paranoid Android are all decent ROMs to go for. Each will probably have a stable build for your phone, as it's quite a popular phone. At this point, your best bet (in terms of stability) is probably going to be 4.2 based ROMs. 4.3 ROMs have most likely not reached a truly stable point quite yet.

Each has it's own set of features, so you probably want to read a bit on all three before choosing which is best for you.

If you can't decide between the three, and couldn't be bothered testing each one in turn, you could also consider PAC-Man; it is a combination of the three (PAC = Paranoid, AOKP, Cyanogen), with all features of PA and CM, and most features of AOKP, along with some other features from some other ROMs, in an effort to give you the best of all worlds.

From a quick glance, it looks like ParanoidAndroid might be the most stable, up-to-date ROM. The CyanogenMod Nightlies seem to be fairly stable too.

You'll need to install a custom recovery first, there's a guide here covering rooting, installing a custom recovery and then installing a custom ROM.

Apologies I cannot offer more solid advice with regards to most stable ROM.

I'm using the same phone in the UK and I use ultimarom, best parts of Samsung (camera etc) with the feel and look of aosp and with boeffla kernel I easily get to the end of the day with, well 47% battery left at the moment.

Oh yeah and its very very stable and very customisable.

i also have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 (international) and ive installed Android Revolution HD 29(which is based on samsung base, so its very stable). ive also installed Googy-Max Kernel which lets you dual boot, so you can install CyanogenMod as a second rom.

Pacman stands for Paranoid,AOKP and Cyanogenmod features all in one. Recommend it if you're a tweakaholic like me.

The issues with 4.3 ROMs are almost certainly due to their infancy, not due to inherit bugs/issues with Android 4.3 itself. Therefore 4.4 will not "fix" these issues, because they aren't issues with Android, they are issues with the ports available right now. What will fix them is time and effort on the part of the devs working on the ROMs.

DOes that mean when 4.4 comes out this month, devs will be priotizing 4.4 over 4.3? Its pretty quick how fast 4.3 to 4.4 is(just a few months apart)

Probably. There's no point working on a old version of the OS when there's a new one released. May as well be working to bring the latest and greatest to their device of choice rather than toiling away on an outdated OS.

I followed couple of instruction videos and written guides.. but my phone doesnt seem to get to clockworldmod or whatever the heck menu after resetting :/ cant install custom roms lol.

And I think I will go with stock android 4.3 or 4.2 instead. Should be smooth and I dont need bundled bullshit.

Anyone got a easy/simple solution to root/install custom rom on i9300 international (UK-Three network)?

I wanna wipe everything and just install a stock android based on 4.2.

Make sure you have 80%+ battery

ROOTING:
1. Download Odin on ur PC/Laptop
2. Back up fone data
3. Turn off fone and Press and hold vol down+power+menu Fone will be in recovery/download mode with a little andoid icon
4. plug fone in PC (while fone is in recovery mode) and open odin. DO NOT CHANGE ANY DEFAULT SETTINGS (the (un)checked boxes)
5. select PDA and select root file and in a little box on the bottom left hand side you will see it loading. it will say do not unplug. i leave for about 2mins depending on your computer speed.
6. When the start button on the odin screen is ready to be selected, select it. ther is a box on the top left it will start to load (green colour) takes between 5-20mins depending on ur PC speed, but can take up to 40mins, but generally 15mins. it will say PASS, if memory serves me correctly and root is successful.
7. turn on fone and d.load a root checker to confirm you have been successful. and follow the steps below.


INSTALLIGN ROM:

1.Turn off your phone and reboot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery mode. If you do not now how to do it, here it is: press and hold the Volume Up+Home (center) keys simultaneously and then hold the Power key. Keep the three buttons pressed till the screen turns up, the Samsung logo blinks for two times. Release the power key now but keep the other two keys pressed till you see a list of options in blue text on black background with Android bot.
2.In the Recovery the touch mode does not work, so you will have to use the Volume up and down keys to scroll and highlight and the Power button to select an option. If you have installed CWM Touch Recovery. you can operate it by touch input.
3.The first and most important thing is to backup your current ROM. Scroll down to “backup and restore” option and select “backup”. It might take a few minutes for the backup to complete and it is a kind of assurance that you phone will be safe in case anything wrong happens.
4.When it is done select go back option and choose “wipe data/factory reset” option and wipe it.
5.Then go to “wipe cache partition” and wipe it.
6.Finally, go to “mounts and storage” option and format data, cache and system.
7.Return back to the main menu and select “install zip from sd card> choose zip from sd card” and select the ROM file that you copied to your phone in Step 1.
8.When the ROM is installed, go back and install the Google Apps zip package the same way you installed the ROM in Step 10.
9.Finally, go back to the main menu in Recovery and select ”reboot system now”.

Remember that the first boot after installing a new ROM takes much longer time than an usual boot. Sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes (maximum), so be patient. In case you phone does not boot properly and you are stuck on bootanimation even after 10 minutes, long press the power key. If it does not work for you, remove the back cover, pull out the battery, wait for a minute, reinsert the battery and try again. If you wish, you can go back to your previous ROM any time if you have made a back up as told in Step 6.

that should be alright. if anyone spots any mistakes tell me and i will amend but this is pretty much it. i can't remmeber where i got my root file, but i have a feeling it was from the independent or guardian website but u can find it on any droid website like droid views or android central. make sure it is for your fone model plz or u will brick your fone.

Most stable and bug free, and you don't care about features? Just stick with the stock ROM surely? Why do you think you need a custom ROM?
