I don't know about everyone else, but i got about 100 hours on New Super Mario Bros U alone.

I don't think I've ever hit double figures with that game...

Nintendo is the new Sony, filling lawsuits against everyone and everything, they are bound to win one at some point ...well, after the last two ...fails! ...it's not like Nintendo are actually doing anything about the real issue, so petty.

Ugh... what? The site was selling MicroSDs preloaded with ROMs, which is distribution/bootlegging, which is why they went after the site.

Nintendo DS no longer brings in any revenue for Nintendo, so why should Nintendo act now?? ...Nintendo is just boasting, they've managed to shut down "one" site.

Nintendo are basically going after the small dealers of the gaming world, rather than the ones in command. Just seems pointless to me, but hey ...if Nintendo want to put something in the press to make developers feel more happy to develop for there consoles ....then why not!

It's not changed anything...well, only the fact that one site is now no longer is business.

Have they stopped selling DS games and consoles in the UK, or are you just making stuff up? Because last time I checked, they're still selling and making a profit here in the states off the DS.

Shit's still being sold in big-name retailers in the US+UK as of this post, it looks like.

Nintendo HAS been acting, for a while. There have been tons of stores/sites that got shut down for distributing or selling ROMs (or simply had to stop their ROM downloads until they physically relocated) over the years.

Nintendo are basically going after the small dealers of the gaming world, rather than the ones in command.
Like... what? Do you think there's some ROM mafia out there or something?

"Hey Tony, this guy dun' wanna' download the recently-dumped Pokemon Purple v1.3 Bugfix. Might wanna' remind him of the agreement, eh?"

Most of the major DS games were released several years back, and Pokémon Black is almost a year old.
Some retailers may still be selling some DS games (probably left over from the distributor), but Nintendo would have already been paid months ago for them...so it's kinda late to be going after someone for selling sd cards with DS rom files on them.

None that Nintendo has told us about ...I've always see Nintendo being relaxed when it comes to rom sites.
Yeah sure the major rom sites probably have relocated at some point, but there sill active.

Hey you never know! ;)

...I'm just saying, that if you are going to do something about ...do it right.
Just don't go around picking off small sites, it's not going to change anything ...after all, HYC were just a seller ...it's not exactly getting to the root of the problem!

Being a year old doesn't give people the right to publicly distribute bootlegs of it. That info is entirely irrelevant.

Also, HYC was selling the Gw3DS, so what exactly did they "not gain" from all of this by shutting down one of their retailers...? They can't exactly go after the real guys in China.

Not at all laws are laws ...from a company point of view the damage has already been done, so no more financial damage can be done ...since the DS is pretty much dead. Which is why it's pointless to go after HYC.

It's also pointless because now there will be another 5 new retailers, making it an endless battle.
The Chinese are not to blame, the people who dump the roms are...Nintendo have a lot more options but for whatever reason they choose not to use them...

What it comes down to is copyright law, which is still a law. In any developed nation, the person who creates content is the only one who can sell it. It doesn't matter if it's a picture or a video game. You can say all you want about "They didn't lose money because I wasn't going to buy it anyways" but in this case somone still paid money for the rom files, which were created (copied if you will) and then sold to the buyer of the flashcart, not a resale of a used game that at one point Nintendo received money for.

Considering that Asda stopped stocking the Wii U because it wasn't making them a profit, big retailers still having DS things in-stock shows that they're still being made and bought.

Obviously it's not the original DS anymore (or even the Lite), but many DS games are still in production for now.

None that Nintendo has told us about ...
Because it's a good thing for them to remind/teach people of the existence of these sites and places they can get Nintendo software for free!

Wait. No. It's the opposite of that.

I've always see Nintendo being relaxed when it comes to rom sites.
Yeah sure the major rom sites probably have relocated at some point, but there sill active.
"Relaxed" and "We can't do anything because they're in another country that doesn't give a shit" is a different matter.

In case you haven't noticed, the world is made up of many countries with many laws, and they tend to not agree with each other.

Hey you never know! ;)

Kinda' looks like you aren't reading at all and just repeating the same stuff, so I'll put bold in my post this time.

They were accepting orders for the Gw3DS.
It was not just a "DS-only" site.
The Gw3DS is not "damage already done" because it hasn't been released yet.

So yes, this IS a worthwhile endeavor for Nintendo because they're getting rid of a potential U.S. distributor for the first 3DS flash cartridge.

Ya, the guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Nintendo has always been vigilant in shutting down bootleggers. I remember a local flea market in the 90s selling bootleg Famicom games that repeatedly got raided by agents working for Nintendo.

yeah if they started suing ANYONE with a flashcart (clean or Preloaded) what do you think their rep would be? (I guess a little ding but the public wouldn't care and call us filthy pirates)

there are no dsi/3ds clean flash kits. the ievo is the only one i can recall that had the user flash the bootloader. the rest all ship with portions of a ROM preinstalled. its how they circumvent piracy.

Please release games... so we don't play those games that don't exist illegally?

What sense does that make.

Games don't exist illegally: they have a perfect legal right to exist. But we would much prefer playing games on a new game system that's been out for about a year now. It's not fun making our own games for previous systems when we could be playing new games on a new system that's been out for about a year now.

You are asking Nintendo to release games, so you don't have to pirate them. But how are you going to pirate them, if they aren't released? Makes no sense.

As long as ds games are being sold retail, nintendo is still making revenue off of it. While I do support unlocking devices, selling bootlegs is a no no

One store goes down... Five more appear in its place.

I don't think Nintendo will ever be able to stop all the flashcard resellers. There's just so many of them.

It is my desire that Nintendo release games for their systems, which in this case would be the WiiU, since it's a current generation one. We can't pirate games that aren't released, and, that's not the best way to convince Nintendo that they should release games. "Hey Nintendo, release some games for the WiiU so we can pirate them. Please? :yaywii:" Now that doesn't make sense. You are a very unusual person; I've seen two of your posts and they both say that you are confused about something. I'd try studying the way of the Vulcans so things do start to make sense. I'm saying this out of kindness, too.
