Yeah I updated everything first on my NDSL and then tried cutting the wire and placing it back in my 3DS and...it didn't work...so I checked to make sure it was updated and went back to the board and scratched that bad boy up. Created a deep gash because the problem was I didn't cut the line and couldn't see that I hadn't went through. So with the line now cut I inserted my card back into my 3DS and behold!! It's working brilliantly again.

Glad to hear mate!
I think the problem for some is either not updating the wood 1.60 or not cutting the wire deep enough.. It's like someone just said "it's obvious the updates not meant for the 3DS RTS" Well my cart is the R4i 3DS RTS and had the old DORASU logo and WORKS FINE!!

I opened mine up a few minutes ago.

On the back side of the gold connectors, there is a little line in the plastic, just run your nail up through there and it will pry up a bit. Then run nail around sides until you can easily remove the cart.

May be better ways, but works.

EDIT: When I say backside, I mean look at the gold connectors, then flip the card over so you are looking at its "equivalent" on the other side. should see the little line on the bottom for your nail.

Here's my cart the R4 3DS RTS that updated fine and worked after cutting the line. When I opened mine up I thought there was no line as it's so small (sorry about the quality)

Here's how to open the case:

So what is up with these revision C PCBs showing up as Rev B in wood. I have 2 of these that won't update.

Edit: If you want to send me an update with the revision check removed I'll take the risk and try it on one of my C's and see if it bricks.

I would like to add that I also have the R4 3DS from r4ids.cn. Icon is from Konami, little person with the sideways Q. I updated to Wood 1.60, then updated with the patch on my DS lite. Then updated my 3DS and the card was indeed blocked at first. Popped it open and used a razor to deeply slice the line (which was pretty hard to see) between C1 and R9 and sure enough it works just fine on my 3DS now. Just hope that line cutting has no future repercussions. Good luck.

Is that an R4 Gold, or is that R4-SDHC.com ?

Got latest Wood and this icon:
new-4.5-1.5.jpg

Card on back says Rev C
Updated fine and it says: Wood 1.60b, HW: R4i Gold 3DSb, Sys:NDSI 1.45&3DS5.1.0-11

Now I'm just wondering if I should update my 3DS to test or just ask my friend who has a 6.0 3DS (but this may take awhile..)

Wire cutting is still needed right? I can barely see it

Meh idk if wire cutting made it work but i did it anyway... just scratch it with a scissor or something to the point where it looks cut. I Just made a mid deep cut and everything worked perfectly. Again i dont know if cutting it made it work (but it says to cut it?) im going to do my uncles flash cart next in a couple hours if you need more info ill let you know

I'll just test it on my friends before cutting since he needs me on 5.1 to update his card.

mine would not update until i took it out and put it back in at the update screen.

Yep tried that with ndsl patch and green fail again. Its just same than metroid rev c card defore i buy this dorasu rtc card.

Feels like deja-vu again. There is even 3 different icons on their site deep labyrinth dorasu and konami digital rev c

and also same 3 icon on another revs 9 etc.i see the future new card again and tons of non updateble cards again

So i followed all of the steps in the proper order and got everything updated correctly for my r4ids.cn (the newest rts version), then too a thin box cutter to where it is shown.
Booted up my card and it all seemed to work until i selected a Rom.
It just now sits at the loading screen and does nothing......

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
