Hacking [Update] R4i Gold 3DS [and DSTWO] firmware update to support 6.1.0-X RELEASED

There is no problem in soldering the wire back if anything I want to understand whats the issue with updating....

I will try this now without cutting anything and see if it works. I really dislike when things like this happen. Yes it's nice they came up with an update but cutting really ? It's enough some people don't even understand how to run a normal upgrade itself

im sure there is a reason for them asking people to do it

I am sure there's a valid reason for the cutting, however, my PCB has a different layout with no R9 to be found anywhere

you are meant to update it first then cut the connection you know?

No, still the same icon after the update

i bet it has something to do with the 3DS being able to flash certain flashcards and brick them
(like how the DSTT Fake Killer worked)
only an assumption tho, but it has been done in the past and worked but never done by nintendo

will let people know what the team can tell us tho

only Rev C carts have the C1 to R9 connection so have asked how to update applied to over revisions also

maybe is not necessary to cut but its obviously for a reason though

Edit: I updated an r4i gold rts and it doesnt work on 6.0 the icon also changed to konami digital entertainment and well that was obvious at this patch is only for non rts cards but I was hopping ... now I screwed up the card perhaps.

It still works on 5.1

I have the R4i 3DS RTS and it had the dorasu logo on it but after reading all these posts I thought what the hell..

1. Updated the Wood R4 1.60 ftp://r4idsdown:[email protected]/Wood_R4iGold_V1.60.rar MUST DO THIS FIRST!!!
2. Updated the update patch 3DS 6.0 ftp://r4idsdown:[email protected]/R4ids6.0Patch.rar UPDATE SUCCESSFULL!
3. I then updated my 3DS then put the cart in and it show3s the new logo but doesn't work! Mmmmm
(at this point I hadn't cut the wire cos a: couldn't see it and b: people said it worked anyway..
4. freaked out for an hour and cursed the company I bought it from, then in desperation opened the cart back up and noticed that I DO HAVE THE WIRE!!! it's just FRIGGIN TINY!! so..
5. got a kitchen knife thought WTF and carved my 3DS cart up.. Well I carefully cut the tiny tiny wire between C1 and R9
(make sure you scape it good till there's no shiny gold line.
6. put my 3DS cart in my updated 3DS and YAY friggin YAY it WORKS!! My Mrs is well happy and you know what that means guys
YEAH SHE'S QUIET FOR THE REST OF THE DAY LMAO!!!!

I think people aren't updating the wood R4 1.60 first! Just follow the instructions without the wacky stuff and I pray your cart works too..

I updated to the new 1.60 first. I can read as well. The update didn't work for my dorasu card which is clearly an r4ids board.

Update to nwe wood - you mean to simply put the files on sdcard or there is hidden mechanics on this?

I DID put the nef files on SD

You need to cut a signal line off after updating.
Just pay attention to the instructionts attached with the patch.

Yeah I updated everything first on my NDSL and then tried cutting the wire and placing it back in my 3DS and...it didn't work...so I checked to make sure it was updated and went back to the board and scratched that bad boy up. Created a deep gash because the problem was I didn't cut the line and couldn't see that I hadn't went through. So with the line now cut I inserted my card back into my 3DS and behold!! It's working brilliantly again.

EDIT 3x: I wasnt cutting the line to see if it worked fine on the RTS r4i gold model card as some users here said that they didnt cut a line on the r4i gold 3ds (without the rts) and it worked fine BUT with the rts model it wouldnt work if you dont cut the connection between c1 and r9

edit: works fine on the rts card revision c if you run the update file and then cut off the wire. It will later show konami instead of dorasu

***For those that is not working REMEMBER to download the new kernel as it says so on the read me file even if you downloaded it recently download it again...

Wait im confuse is this for people who accidently updated the firmware before a patch? I just updated my cart to 1.60 through my 3ds (before new 3ds firmware) will it be fine to update my 3ds now or do i still have to do all this?

did you cut the wire AFTER running the update? Also remember to re-download the 1.60 kernel

you need to download the firmware file and run that by pressing a on your system once thats done you have to cut off the wire read the instructions attached inside the firmware file... dont upgrade your system yet first update the card.

Man, this just feels so ghetto to me. Guess this is my final push to the DSTwo.

Hopefully NDS Gamer will take my cart back.... only been 10ish days
