We have a like button, why not a dislike button? That way I can dislike post of which views are different from my own (but really consider it, doesnt need to keep count but just so you could see how many others disliked it aswell)
Like/Dislike buttons are a bad idea since the majority of internet users seem to be thin-skinned losers whose whole sense of self-worth is defined by how many people they've never met (or "friends" as Facebook refers to them) like their tedious, ill-reasoned opinions and arguements.
There, there...... have another "Like". All better now ?Hey, that's only I how define most of my self-worth.

This. The saving grace of the 'like' button is that it prevents pointless '+1' or 'lol' posts. In theory at least.
P1ng took the words right out of my mouth. Most of the staff including myself where very much against the introduction of a like button in the first place, we grudgingly agreed to one being introduced on the understanding that a dislike button would never be introduced. A dislike button by nature is a negative thing, one which can be easily abused and used as a tool of harassment against people. I can see situations occurring very easily where a certain group of people target one or more individuals and downvote every single post they make regardless of content. We really don't need something like that here and I think I speak for all the staff when I say that none of us have the energy or desire to look into things like "dislike button bullying" etc.
All in all a dislike button would just bring almost no benefits to the community and potentially a whole heap of issues, and we don't need that at all.
Few months ago, GameHacking website added Likes, Dislikes and Thanks button until they removed Dislikes button because random reason... Anyway, just one request for this forum is... ADD THANKS button!!
like and dislike buttons are for pussies... we need a SPOILER button!!!!

"thank butten" "like butten" same thing
For instance, all of emigre's posts?A like/up button by itself is useful to mark which posts in a thread have the most community backing in general, like which ones are the most helpful, posted a solution, etc.
i know one annoying ***T who i'd love to see gone that abuses this all the timeThe "like" button was more than enough for this site, but even that seems to be abused (such as troll posts getting more likes than an actual helpful post.)
