I purely don't believe that it's not hackable.
Unless nintendo focused on making it purely impossible.
The question is not whether it's possible, but whether it's going to happen.

Nobody that's worked on softmods before has shown any progress or interest in softmodding the mini.

I'm sure it is hackable somehow ... just the traditional ways don't work anymore and no one seems interested in taking the time to figure anything else out. I don't even know if the drive cable's the same size but I guess there might be the possibility of fitting it with a WODE :/ which might lead to something but without being Nintendo and having the private encryption keys to get in the "legit" way, no one knows how to get in at this point.

probably is if you didnt use modmii to update your wii just use the wizard in modmii and tell it your wii is virgin it will ask you questions and then download all th files you need and make you a custom guide to follow the recommended cios now is d2x base 56 for 249 and d2x base 57 for 250

I did that. Reinstalled cIOS and everything. But I'm still getting the disc read error in Neogamma. My Wii was previously able to read burned games (I don't have an external Hard Drive, probably would be easier if I did.) so I know the drive is capable of it, and it still reads normal games just fine.

Fun fact, I installed cMIOS as well (WiiGator's) and Gamecube games show up in the Disc Channel but the console just reboots itself.

Use Wii backup manager it will auto split ISO's into 4gb parts with no performance issues.

Interesting.
So my process right now is Retail Disk > ripping to FAT32 formatted drive w/ CFG loader.

What you are telling me is that i have to rip it beforehand with Wiibackup Manager and manually add it to my HDD?

You say this why?

It's a 6-year-old budget console using a <1ghz PPC CPU, is it somehow supposed to give comparable performance to a modern PC or something?

I softmodded my Wii a few years ago. I have a 4.3u system and was using UsbLoader GX. A few months ago, a friend was watching the house, playing the wii, and saw there was an update. He did it :(
Since then, my backed up games (98% of them) won't play. They simply go to a black screen. Sooo....

I ran ModWii initially saying that I had a modded Wii (as Homebrew, etc still work) I followed their instructions to the letter. It's a different USB Loader they use, but that too, produces the same results (although it at least gives the screen about hooking the wii controller around your wrist before black screening).

Oddly enough, I do have 1 or 2 games that work. Lego Indiana Jones and Wii sports (only baseball though) work. Every other game fails.

I read that I should force NTSC in the game options (and will try that tonight). Any other suggestions? I'd really like to "start over"- if that's possible - but don't want to lose games that we've purchased with Wii points. When I originally hacked the box, the instructions I used mentioned nothing about backing up the virgin wii (nand I believe), so I don't have that.

Anyway, words of wisdom would be appreciated. I've tried the d2x-cios as well.

Hi, im having problems playing back up games on my 650GB Westen Digital HDD. It was originally the HDD of my broken laptop but since i am not using it anymore, i tried to use it for my modded wii. I modded my unit using the latest version of modmii btw. I was originally using a 16GB Sandisk Flash Disk before i switch to my 650GB one. The thing is, i kept having problems when im using the WD Drive. Problems that occur are: After clicking "PLAY" on wiiflow, i got a black screen then my wii restarts back to system menu. Sometimes, i can access the game but it after a while, i will have a notice on my screen "Reading Game Disc......". And there are times that it goes in to the game, but on after a while, it just hangs up on me so the only solution for me is to turn off my wii by pressing the power button for a couple of seconds. And another thing, when selecting partition on wiiflow, obviously, i am inserting my HDD on the USB1(the one near the wall where my 16GB USB resides originally) i am sometimes seeing the games which is on my 16GB USB which is already unplugged. So i try changing the partition on the settings to USB2(i just tried to switch to see what will happen even though my HDD is on USB1) and viola, all the games which is on my HDD is there, but the problems that i mentioned earlier keeps on occuring. I also encounter an error which is similar to a dos command where at the bottom it says "Reloading in 10 seconds", this only happens once when i tried opening WarioWare Smooth Moves. Please help me.

And one more thing, i formatted my drive to fat32 and also back to ntfs thinking this will solve my problem but still same results. i formatted my drive using windows formatter. And also, being a laptops harddisk, it originally have 2 partitions, 1 is the main drive and 2nd the system drive. So i delete both the partitions and collated it as 1 partition using Computer Management on windows 7. but after that im still seeing a recovery partition with 12.70GB space and i cant seem to delete it. Do you think this has something to do with these errors?

okay, in your case, with ModMii, just tell it that you have never modded your Wii (pretend it's virgin) and follow the instructions that way. It will overwrite your broken softmod with a new, working one.

While making a NAND backup last night, I got this error:
ECC failure (uncorrectable)

What happened? I recently deleted the Photo Channel, Weather Channel, News Channel, but I'm not sure what caused this.
Any ideas?

Edit : for the record, I used Bootmii IOS

Edit: I fixed the issue by using an older version of Bootmii!
