I lol'd

Regardless, we've gone quite off-topic here... So allow me to veer us back on-topic.

Considering this is running in vWii, this should work on a normal Wii as well no? If tueidj keeps up his current pace it's very possible that this would get released before a Devolution revision with extra-controller support ever does.

I guess it should probably work on a regular Wii, it seems to be somehow related to SNEEK. Although that does mean more complicated to setup than Devolution, which is very simple and makes no permanent modifications.

the HIDtest works fine on my vWii.
I connected the official sixaxis PS3 controller on the front USB port (the one close to the SD slot).

I have everything like Crediar's screenshot, except my Firmware which is reported as 55.23.31

Can you test on a regular WII without Gamecube Controller ports?
If works, everybody that have a regular WII can play Gamecube Games after Crediar complete this project.
Can I play with Dualshock 3 in Dios Mio after install this .dol?

It works on Wii too.
I have a Wii with GC Port, but I don't see why it would be different with a Wii without a GC Port, it's only a PS3 controller's reader from USB. Having GC or not has nothing to do with this HIDTest.

On Wii :
Connected controller on Port0
Firmware 55.20.29
everything else like Crediar's screenshot.

no

it's just a standalone application.
It has nothing to do with DIOS MIOS or QuadForce.
it's a homebrew to "test if a PS3 controller is connected". (or anything else, it's reports the found PID/VID)

You can only test your PS3's buttons, or power off your console.
There is no "install", it's only launched from homebrew channel.

Nonsense. Just because this one small part of it (PS3 controller compatibility) works on a regular Wii does not mean the entire thing will. Now, it's highly likely that it either will work as-is, or with slight changes on crediar's part, but the fact that this test app works on a Wii is in no way any sort of "proof" of that. [On a side note, it has already been shown a while back that PS3 controllers could be used on the Wii, and there are apps that can use them; some emulators etc.]

Besides, everybody that has a "regular Wii" can already play GC games; it has that functionality built in. I wouldn't call the GC-less consoles a "regular Wii".

I wrote a tool to test HID compatibility http://crediar.no-ip.com/HIDTest.rar Connect your controller and run it and report back! http://crediar.no-ip.com/0602094530COMPOSITE.jpg
Now we should know soon if the Raphnet Gamecube->USB adapter works with this.
Fingers crossed.
I am SO testing this with my Mayflash Classic Controller -> USB adapter for the lulz. :P

EDIT: So I've tested with three different USB controller devices, and even though none of them worked they all gave a different result.

Wired Xbox 360 controller: hung up at "Getting list of HID compatible devices..." no matter what USB port.

Mayflash Super Dual Box Pro (Dualshock/2 to USB): Showed the number values but none of said values would change regardless of input or how the devices and/or controllers were connected.

Mayflash Wii Classic Controller Adapter for PC (CC/pro to USB): -7004 error not found. Interestingly enough the adapter is actually supposed to work on a PS3 itself (I've never tried it though), but no matter what order I plugged in the controller/s and/or the adapter I always got the same error.

Well, it makes sense adding USB control FIRST since the Wii's Bluetooth adapter actually connects to the USB port internally so you'd have to communicate with USB to get to the Bluetooth and classic controllers anyhow.

all tueidj said that writing a HID driver (for PC USB gamepads) was something he was not interested in and was painfully boring. EDIT :
USB gamepads don't have a common protocol and writing a HID parser is as enjoyable as hammering in a nail with your head.

Holy crap! Shit is amazing! I can finally put my Wii to rest now!
No offense, but is it bad that I find anyone with a similar opinion as this to not actually realize how Devolution works? AFAIK this uses a very similar method for running GameCube games so, other than not having to wait around on tueidj, I don't understand how this is so amazing...

Because Devolution doesn't work on WiiU? And probably never will because of the dev not wanting to?

Oh? So you have a 3-inch disc adapter and have tried it with Devolution on a Wii U?

I guess it's just that it feels like I've known even before the system launch that the Wii U is physically capable of running GameCube games due to the mere existence of Devolution running games in Wii mode...

Tueidj did release a proof of concept video AFAIK, but I doubt he'd want to release it. Crediar on the other hand, I've no doubt.

No one's going to want to spend money to repurchase gamecube discs.

Blah. 3 of my NSO + Expansion Pass family group members are leaving. Found one replacement so far but still need to fill two empty slots. I have 9 days or i eat the extra cost myself. But with a full group $11 for a year is a good deal. imo
