i play league of legends with my nephews about every day, and we're all on skype

it's great fun and all, but every 30 minutes or so, it lags a tiny bit (a few secs , or 15 secs). this can be very very annoying and even ruin the whole game.

I know one of the specs of the laptop they play on, and it's really good, especially good enough for LoL; i5 cpu, NVIDIA GT740M graphics card.
the other PC/laptop they use, I don't know, but since they both have lag, I don't think this is the problem.

if their internet is too slow for LoL/skype at the same time, wouldn't it lag every minute? this is not the case....
we've even tried raidcall instead of skype, because we heard raidcall might use less bandwidth. it was better, but they still lagged (less frequently we think)

what could be the reason? how can we test this? is skype that bandwidth intensive?

It might be something with your ISP/router? For me, I usually can play normally with about 28 ping, but sometimes it jumps to >1000 for about 30 minutes. If you think a tiny amount of lag can ruin the whole game, try that, it's completely unplayable when it happens xD

Could be somebody else on your network suddenly deciding to watch a video online or something.
not really no. problem is still happening, we're playing BF3 now and they regularly lag out.
they are finally gonna call to their isp tomorrow, finally

Nice necrobump.

It'd be helpful if you ran a speedtest.

Speedtest.net, paste result in this thread. The lag depends more on your ping than your internet speed. If you have a high ping (generally anything over 100-150ms is meh) then that could be causing the lag spikes.

Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It can act as a swap drive but that isn't more RAM, it's slooow.
