It is an odd tradeoff, but it is what it is I guess. Beggars can't be choosers. People will either enjoy the game irrespective of the graphics or play the games solely for the sake of eye candy.

I bought a $109 GPU (HD 5770) a few years ago and am still using it, it's working just fine. The idea that you need to spend a ton of money or use multiple cards to get better-than-console quality was disproven years ago.

What he's talking about is anti-aliasing, which is different than the polygonal shape of the models used.

He means on consoles. Many games will run at lower resolutions in order to include better effects or simply run well on the relatively-limited hardware.

The game can display four enemies and four allies at once, but the polygon count goes down even more in order to not kill the CPU load. The N64, same thing. Resident Evil 2 can display at 640 x 480, but when several zombies are on screen, the resolution gets halved to 320 x 240 to avoid getting bogged down. That's what he's saying; if you want full 1080p, you may not be able to have both that and FSAA or FXAA at the same time if the GPU can't handle it; it's one or the other.

Right, we don't know the full potential, but we do know that Batman ran with FXAA (or was it FSAA) and at a nice framerate outside of cutscenes, and it still looked better. Same with Need For Speed Most Wanted, it was visually on par with the PC version and had advantages over the other ports, thus proving that the Wii U is more than capable and has proven it's not a minor graphical improvement over the last gen.

he doesn't realize that lego city is rendered in real time including people, vehicles, effects, shaders etc all in REAL time and the city is mother fucking HUGE. i think the wiiu did quite well for what it had to do in that game. in lego lotr the areas aren't even close to being as big you can finish the game in a day!

Again, that's a fallible and unfair comparison on his part to say the least; if you're going to compare two different consoles, it needs to be done with the same games on both systems. Otherwise, said comparison has no merit.
