Staff edit- source, general background on the game, general background on the franchise, general background on the surrounding drama with this game... no?
Guess we will do it then.
Rayman is a fairly old (1995 was the first entry) series of platform games from Ubisoft and though it has seen a few spinoffs it has remained true to its 2d platform roots. 2011's Rayman Origins title was considered one of the best such games in years and for many it even eclipsed Nintendo's efforts to get back on the 2d platform games with the New Super Mario Brother series. Rayman Legends was set to be the sequel and was also set to be a Wii U exclusive and launch title, the launch title thing got pushed and shortly after the release of a demo it was pulled and announced as coming to the Wii U, xbox 360 and PS3 (presumably with PC and whatever else coming later too).
This delay and loss of exclusivity caused much pointless wailing on the part of many looking forward to the game and though a rough date was announced there (late September and just after the new Grand Theft Auto) it has now been changed to the27th of August *update* 3rd of July in North America and the 30th of August for all platforms.
