Don't know (besides CoD and ZombieU I don't know if any other Wii U game supports 5.1 LPCM). I will tell you this, when Wii U is in surround mode, it will output everything in 5.1 LPCM.

So for Nintendoland, which doesn't support surround sound, will have 5.1 LPCM with 4 channels muted.

Both Scribblenauts Unlimited and Trine 2 offer superb surround sound. As you mentioned everything else is muted forcing one to turn all channels on or switch to stereo on settings which is the best settings possible. Do you know if this problem can be solved with update?

This game supports 5.1 channel linear PCM surround sound. In order to experience surround sound, select (System Settings) from the Wii U Menu, choose the TV item, then change the audio-output type to Surround.

This is from the manual in Lego City Undercover... The second note they had in the manual was this.........In order to experience surround sound with this software, you will need to connect your wii U console wiht a reciever tha has a built-in HDMI port using a High Speed HDMI Cable. For more information about how to connect....

My second note. This is a great game for all ages. I played it for 7 hours straight yesterday, ended up having to plug in my control pad, but damn it is addictive. From bout 8pm to 2am.
