God of War: Ascension to get censorship in an update

God of War: Ascension, like all God of War games, is extremely violent and filled with blood and gore. It's well known as one of the most violent game series ever made, which is made even more violent feeling by the fact that Kratos is an extremely hot-headed guy with a huge temper and a passion for killing enemies in the bloodiest ways possible. Not to mention there are minigames where you clearly have to do the right motions to perform sexual acts correctly.

So which of these is going to be censored, you may ask?

None of them.
They are renaming the trophy "Bros before Hos" to "Bros before Foes" because too many people thought it was too offensive, while they bloodily and goringly dismember enemies in the most brutal way possible, while having sex mini-games.

Please note: I am not complaining about the violence. I like it. I just find it hilarious that a freaking trophy name is the reason it's getting censored.

The issue is more that people thought the joke was made in poor taste. Rewarding players with a "Bros Before Hos" trophy right after brutally curbstomping a woman to death would sort of be akin to rewarding players with a "Jew-thanized!" achievement in a WWII game. It would be kind of uncomfortable and moment-shattering without serving any real purpose.

Besides, "Bros Before Foes" is the funnier of the two lines anyway, so this minor edit hardly hurts.

(Side Note: Apparently there's some controversy over when exactly the trophy is rewarded. Some are saying that reviewers like Adam Sessler mislead their audience - the trophy is actually supposed to be awarded well after the execution scene in question. I can't say for sure either way, I haven't played the game, but I thought I'd just drop that in there.)

As for the topic at hand, I understand why it offends people but I really don't think it should be changed. The game is offensive but at the end of the day you aren't forced to buy or even play it.
Think of it this way, if some weird ass fetish porn offends you, then don't watch it. You don't go on a crusade to eradicate the fetish.

From what I saw, the achievement is earned a few minutes after the fight, because you side with some guy whose name escapes me, rather than some chick, whose name also escapes me. I find it kind of funny really, considering the name of the achievement was apparently named by a female team member.

I think the industry has become 'whether it is for entertainment or not'.
Naming a trophy is not entertainment but an insult while gore,maturity and so on is part of 'entertainment'. its like MW2 with the killing of innocents in the airport, t'was entertainment and not an insult.
