it will either be called that or just BC. Modmii is a pc app. It will download a wad for you to install. It's on one of the download pages along with the IOS's and channels.

And sorry for taking so long to respond. It's a pain to repond from a telephone.

Oh don't worry about that! I'm not paying you or anything it's really nice of you to help at all.

I'm so lost with ModMii it's scary though, what do I do?

Hello all,

Before i posted, i looked on the net for answers, and ofc, i didn't found them
First of all, i've a black wii 4.3e 'virgin'.
I didn't make backup  (yes, you can call me noob)
I followed this tutorial, but when i get to the cIOS installation, i changed from the slots (249 and 250) to (247 and 248) for base 56 and 57, i did this change because slot 249 had something already installed, and i didn't want to delete it.
Then i installed usb loader GX. It is on the SD card.
I was ready to play some games from a pen USB (8GB), i a'm wainting for USB drive to arrive in shop.
Wii party, i played about 20min and it was ok.
After that i try Mario Galaxy2 and CoD - MWF and with both i got the message: ERROR #001 unauthorized device has been detected.

My Questions:
Is there any possibility to get a factory reset?
What's your opinion about what should i do?

I aprecciate your help.
Thanks in advance.

For the following steps, don't type "quotation marks". The steps should make sense with what you have on your screen.

1. download ModMii
2. extract it on your computer
3. run modmii (modmii launcher)
4. type "I Agree"
5. press [Enter]
6. let it check for updates
7. type "1" and press [Enter]
8. type "BC" and press [Enter]
** step 8 1/2. If you don't already have a WAD manager on your Wii, at this point press "2", [Enter], "YAWM", [Enter].
9. type "D" and press [Enter]
10. type "Y" and press [Enter].
11. wait for it to download.
12. type the letter "O" and press [Enter]
13. put the SD card from your wii in your your computer.
14. Highlight everything.
15. right click, point to "send to >" and click on your SD card drive.
16. put the SD card back in the wii and install the WAD file with a WAD manager.

I don't know why I found typing that up so much fun ... oh well. Edit: maybe that's why I like programming so much.

Solid, I've got my BC file. Once that's installed I should go grab DM 2.7 and install that right?

That sounds good. You could also test if it's working with your current version first. I've already downloaded 2.7 but I'm not near my Wii to install and test it so JUST IN CASE 2.7 breaks something it would be good to also test it beforehand. ... but that's optional either way.

So try out 2.6? Or see if what I just got works for me?

Home Brew Channel

It can launch homebrew from SD or USB right? Why do I only see the apps on the SD when I launch mine? Can it only look at one at a time?

Yeah, see if what you just got fixed your problem so that JUST IN CASE 2.7 breaks it again you'll know that it was 2.7 and not that the BC just didn't fix it in the first place.

Yeah, one at a time. I think it's the 1 or 2 button that will bring up the option to switch which one it's looking at.

Alright, I installed BC, I started up my game off a disc using gecko and... black screen. Same for the official disc channel.

If you have any USB version Dios Mios installed you will still have to have the USB plugged in for it to run retail games.

How does it do with running games off of USB?
EDIT :
If it matters my HDD is disconnected.
Exactly.

Well cool. So I plugged it back in and everything was great until the game gave me "an error has occurred. Turn the power off go see the manual blah blah blah" Menus worked. Game works just fine in my gamecube. Don't know what's wrong.

Ripped Viewtiful Joe 2 to my HDD via USB Loader GX. and hit play.

Attempt 1: Instant shutdown

Attempt 2: Playing Viewtiful Joe 2.

So playing off the HDD seems to work sometimes. Other times it shuts off instantly, I'm due for a new HDD soon so that won't be an issue long. But what's wrong with my disc drive?

I understand there are some games that send different information through the USB cord only a few of the times when they're plugged in. Those ones are only compatible through trial and error, hit or miss. I'm not sure WHY the manufacturers made them that way but they did.

I've only tested VJ2. I didn't get my files done right for games I already had the ISO of.

Anyone have any suggestion?

So has Nintendo added new protections to VC/Wii Ware that have not been overcome yet?

Only my 2 most recent wii shop downloads will not work from emulated nand: Smash Bros. (N64) and Castlevania Adventure Rebirth

Both were downloaded in the last couple of months. Smash Bros was downloaded on a different Wii I own which I dumped the nand. It hangs at the need Classic Controller screen both when I run it from that nand dump and if I install it to a different emunand.

Castlvania is on my actual nand and plays fine from there. I could not pack it to a wad with either Wii Mod Manager or BlueDump...they failed. I did redump my nand and packed it with showmiiwads. However when I install it to my emunand and launch the game it reboots my wii.

Factory reset? No.
What to do? I'm guessing either the cIOS you installed is not actually the newest. My suggestion is to run ModMii on your computer and choose the option as if you had never modded your Wii before, answer the questions, have it create a guide and follow it. It's really simple and it'll give you a very complete and well done softmod.

That process WILL put something into 249 and 250 and replace what's there now but what's there now is either too old and will just be replaced by the newest ... or it's just the useless crap Nintendo puts in that spot to try to block us from running games from USB so either way, no harm done.
