Hacking HELP! my wii won't play my legit discs PLEASE HELP!

So earlier today I wanted to backup my own games, because I own a lot of rare GCN games and don't want them scratched, so I tried neogamma and nothing would work, so I gave up and went into MIOS patcher, and clicked yes, then it asked me "r5,r6" ect, I was like "yeah...better not mess with this." and exited out.


Now my wii will sometimes play gamecube games and sometimes not, what the HELL did I do wrong? I don't think I edited the MIOS/CIOS PLEASE HELP ME! If so by some chance, how do I install fresh MIOS/CIOS? Iv'e tried other games, and even my gamecube and they work fine

ok, it looks like I found some info
"Dios Mios overwrites the mios needed by the wii to play retail Gamecube discs.

Either update dios Mios to 2.2 which supports retail as well or reinstall mios v10 (I think) and you will no longer be able to play backups.

Dios Mios - install latest 2.2 wad
Put any disc (wii is OK) into the wii
Use a Gamecube memory card in slot A (improves compatibility)
Put the gamecube games into the correct format using DiscEx
Add the folder to the hard drive (HDD: games / your game folder here)

Use a loader that can start dios mios v2.2 (gx 1198 - cfg latest beta etc)"
Where can I get a fresh mios?...

Ok, one more update.



I put a different MIOS in(version 10 r36...clean i think?)


sometimes shows the discs, but when starting just get a disc read error, I deleted the "fake signed" MIOS from any title deleter as well....

If it matters my wii is 4.2 so maybe I need a lower MIOS?

so have you tried Dios Mios 2.4?

also why not update the Wii to 4.3 using ModMii, will apply the latest files

Iv'e tried dios mios 2.4 sometimes it will load the gamecube discs...


sometimes it won't. And when it does, it gives me an error straight away, but a couple hours ago I managed to play my retail copy of TP for like half an hour, then it errored out.



I will try modmii and go to 4.3 I will report back. I really need help. jeez. All I wanted to do was backup my own games. I don't want them to be destryoed, but I honestly don't care anymore. I will use my retail discs if I have too...

ModMii should be the most simplistic way of doing the update to 4.3. Just follow the steps and make the whole package as "update from an existing, modded console". You should get everything back to square one in terms of a basic use with a modded console.

After that, try the steps the others have mentioned.

ps. ModMii is quite easy to use. I modded my Wii before having any experience in the Wii modding procedures. Works like a charm!

I also notice I have a lot of faked signed IOS's? I honestly just want my gamecube compatiblity working In any title deleter I see "MIOS:gamecube compatibility layer" It's also v10...


Is that maybe the issue? does it have to be v8 or something? please help...

Updated to 4.3 using modmii....gamecube games still not working....
Used a clean v10 MIOS....still not working...and wii games work fine. so it's NOT my drive


One final option guys, how do I put my wii back to FACTORY settings? so all the IOS's, EVERYTHING is real? maybe I can remod my wii and try again...

just before you 'clean the slate' completely........
use NUS Downloader to grab a clean MIOS v10 and BC v6 and install with wad manager.
make sure discs are physically in good condition and try again

Ok, have the files. but they are random numbers ect, where do I move them too exactually on the wii? kinda wish these were WADS as it be a little easier, sorry about my stupidity...

you should tick the 'Pack WAD' box and check within the folder(s) created for the WAD file

I should note first off, anytitle deleter says "patching IOS in memory...applied 1 patches"
Is that bad? i think I may have saved an old MIOS inside the database...
Anyway,I should mentions 90% of my IOS's are faked signed. If that means anything.
I installed the WADS father jack gave me, checked any title deleter to make sure they were not fakesigned just incase. And it's STILL NOT WORKING!
SOMETIMES it will work, but not all the time! I just don't get what went wrong!?!!?
Should I make a video showing? please help...




Ok, I just tried to insert 5 different games, they all seemed to initiate on the disc channel. Haven't tried playing any of them yet. The last one I played was twilight princess(like 2 days ago) and it gave me the disc read error(after about 20 minutes of play). Please. If ANYBODY knows what the heck is going on help me

A few questions here. Who is father jack & what files did he give to you? Did you also install these files after your updated with ModMii?

You know you can use sysCheck & take the output file that app will create, drag it over your ModMii shortcut and it will tell you anything outdated on your softmod as well as download the necessary updates for you. I was briefly reading some of the above replies which state update to sm4.3 what exactly is the purpose of that? Games, homebrew, even devolution (from my understanding) run off an IOS which is completely different then the sm IOS. If it's just for the sake of updating then I semi-understand (still a waste of time for post 2008 wii's) but I'm a fan of a custom system menu where the sm & it's required IOS title version is set to 65535 this way no disc or wifi updates brick my Wii & I'm always on 4.1 (I have a post 2008 wii).

I have not set up DM but as a concerned temper I just wanted to add my 2 cents.

I just played another game, and it worked fine. Does it maybe have a problem with first party titles? I will get syscheck and see if there is anything outdated.
I remember using neogamma a couple days ago, playing around with settings to try to get gamecube backups to work. With no luck I just said forget it. But I doubt that be it, because neogamma puts the settings to default everytime you load it up.
