just wondering can anyone tell me what firmware the console actually comes with, the european version that is ? i have a acekard2i i bought prior to the 4.1 update recently i think, so its about 2 firmwares behind. Im presuming i can update my Acekard without the need of a extra DS console if the acekard is behind a bit right ?

3DS XL comes with 4.1.0-8 in the UK.
I can't remember the exact number, as i updated mine but it was 4.1.
So unless your Acekard is updated to support 4.1, you'll need to upgrade it via another DS console.

Mine came with 3.0 so as other posters have said it appears to be random

got my 3ds xl today. And yes - flash carts works.

On a side note though. It's mandatory to upgrade to the latest firmware to make the system transfer. I had to make the system transfer because the i am a 3ds ambassador (for vanity issues i guess...).
The downside here is that my flash is a r4i-sdhc. And as of today they still havent made a fix to the new upgrade.
I was not able to wait becasue the deal here in denmark when swapping 3ds is that you buy the whole 3ds xl. then you have 3 days to make the transfer. then you hand over the old 3ds and they pay you the swap value in cash. If I don't return the old 3ds within the 3 days, i am not applicable for the offer. then i am just a owner of an old 3ds and a new 3ds.

Yes the upgrade is sadly always mandatory since the system transfer is authenticated online by the Nintendo Servers/eShop.

That's why is nice to have a normal DS too, you don't need to worry about 3ds updates to update your flashcart

Or you could, you know, not update.
How will that make me make a system transfer?
That's one of the problems, when going against the manufacturer you need to tread lightly, and they WILL attempt to put you at a disadvantage in an attempt to persuade you to not use flash carts.

One of the downsides to using flash carts on the DSi and 3DS is having to wait for updates to the cart... just like you shouldn't update a hacked PS3 the moment a new CFW comes out, same with the 360, etc.

Arh ok. I might have misunderstood your comment about not updating to: its possible to make system transfer without updating

my bad

Why do you like the DS Lite D-Pad? It's mushy and eventually you will need to apply a lot of pressure for the console to sense the control.

According to my friend @chemistryfreak who already got his White 3DS LL, the new D-Pad is a lot better than the regular. It's thicker and easier to press too.
