Literally just read this.

I never played the original so I'll probably pick it up. One could hope that they'd at least improve the graphics and stuff if it does come but I doubt they'll do a whole lot.

Excellent news! Better news would be that a NEW one is coming...
Many companies often release old titles on virtual-console-like networks to check whether a game would sell - it's entirely possible that if alot of people get this, they just might make one.

The only instance I've seen of this honestly is Sin and Punishment 2 which got an overseas release because of the success of the translated VC version. Other games like Beyond Good and Evil have tried "re-releasing" to test the waters for a possible sequel but I haven't seen anything come out of it.

The graphics don't need improving.

You're right, they need to redo the entire soundtrack for a modern dubstep age.

Nice this will be a day one purchase for me even though I already own the original game on Dreamcast. Hopefully in the future Dreamcast games will be on the Vita PSN as well.

Love Sega and love this news. I think it's great that newer generations can experience some of the lesser known titles that have graced many of our consoles during our younger years.

That said, I just find it hilarious how Sega, Capcom, and other companies are making a ridiculous amount of income off of old games that sold well in the (not so distant) past, over and over again. Wouldn't even be surprised if some of these rehashes are selling better than and receiving more recognition than some of their newer IPs and sequels. I know they're a business and this is a no-brainer from a business standpoint but, damn, really shows that the industry is running a bit dry lately. :(

I usually don't mind the rehashing if it's done well. As everyone knows I've railed on Star Fox 64 3D and Ocarina of Time 3D because they're basically just ports, but $40 ports with some spiffier graphics at that. I think that the "HD Collections" are pretty good though since it gives companies some extra spending cash, hopefully for riskier ventures, and it gives players an opportunity to play catch up on games they missed. Like MGS HD was worth it for $50, God of War looked pretty nice for only $30, and the Devil May Cry HD coming out soon looks worth it as well (all three original DMC games for $40).

Unfortunately most of these collections are on the PS3 (such as Jak and Daxter and God of War) so being a lowly Xbox 360 owner means I can't get most of them.

I agree wholeheartedy - I get rashes whenever I see companies trying to sell a 10+ year old game for a contemporary price, but in a nice compilation or with *significantly* updated graphics and at an affordable price it's always a steal.

I'm on board with this, though I have to hope that a Steam version is coming too, but given Sega's recent track record I'd say it's to assume there'll be one.

But the lack of licensed tracks was a killer for the Crazy Taxi rerelease, I hope it doesn't happen here. I can't say I've ever played the original, actually; I've got JSRF for the Xbox but I never really played that either.

WRAHHHHHH!!! *KERPLOW*

I love this game, but I think those that haven't played it before will be disappointed. It's not that it hasn't aged well or anything, but the physics and general bugginess are hard to get used to. For example, your characters often move molasses-slow (especially if you'd been expecting something like Tony Hawk 1 or 2), and even when you get up to speed, any little screwup will cause you to lose all momentum. Imagine playing as Bowser or Donkey Kong in Mario Kart and getting hit with a red shell every 10 seconds. Add to that the massive slowdown when you get chased by a bunch of enemies, and the fact that you're usually trying to do some fancy analogue-stick moves whenever they do, and you have something that's totally frustrating for someone who's used to squeaky clean games (again, like Tony Hawk or SSX or whatever game you've played that includes trying to fly around grabbing little objects placed in precarious positions).

That said, when you do get used to the game, it's super-fun, and you can do things without completely failing left and right. It's sad that Sega thought the original was too hard or whatever, because they completely changed the physics engine and general level designs in JSR:Future. It's like, "ok, so everything moves twice as fast, but why is it half as fun?"

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.

He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
