Here's a theme that I created using another theme as a base (just replaced all the images with the ones I created) now the only problem that I have is everything loads fine no bricked wii incidents or anything like that my issue is the fact that since I did use another theme to recreate mine the text is yellow but I would like to change that to dark blue now I did look through the Customizing a Wii Theme tut and read how benzin can be used to edit colors.... My issue is I don't know how to go about doing this.... here are some screens

Now here's a video of it in action

Now the name of this them is called Wiidows 7 Ultimate all I need is to change that black background and the text color. If anyone can help me with I would be glad to release this theme....
Thanks in advance and let me know what you think

The clock is done with images, found in ChanSel.ash : http://www.fathertom...h-Breakdown.htm (ChanSel.ash is found within 00000001.app in the directory \layout\common\)

The date is probably in a brlyt. I haven't found it as of yet, but I'll have a quick look and see if I can find anything that looks like it could be it.

only the shape of the is clock is controlled by the tpls in chansel.ash
to change the color you need to edit the my_Clock_a.brlyt from chansel.ash

the date is colored by the my_IplTop_c.brlyt in the board.ash
look at the T_Day_a T_Day_b and T_Day_c panes

How do I edit the color from a brlyt file? I know that its done by wordpad but im not sure which tag is the color tag that I would need to change
and what does my_TVSheet_e.tpl control exactly? does it control what is circled in the pic?

use benzin to edit the brlyts
i think its just the backcolor tags you need to change but changing the forecolor doesnt hurt as we always changed both

my_TVSheet_e.tpl controls the black part in your pic thats above the line but below the channels

I think he means the colour of the actual line.

EDIT: And if the alpha of the forecolor is zero (as it seems to be in the brlyts in the regular SM), only the backcolor will be displayed, so it wouldn't matter. And if you change the alpha of the forecolor to 255 as well, only it will be displayed. But it would make a difference if the forecolor was somewhere between 0 and 255, and was a different colour to the backcolor. ;)

What are these black and white parts you are talking about? EDIT: Ah you meant on the TPL. diddy81 explained perfectly above.

In the my_IplTop_c.brlyt file, for example, there is the following entry:

Code:
GX_ALWAYS
GX_ALWAYS
GX_AOP_AND
00
00

These two lines govern the colour of the text:

Code:

As forecolor has an alpha (a) of 0, you can ignore it as it is not displayed. Edit the red (r), green (g) and blue (b) values of the backcolor to change the colour of the text. You also need to edit this line for T_day_a and T_day_c.

ok now i notice that in the xmylt there are multiple forecolor and background tags..... I have to change all of them the the same value correct?
on another forum it is said that its best to edit these in wordpad and not notepad but wouldn't it be easier to change the values all at once in notepad?

I don't think the editor should make any difference to how easy it is to change values, but Notepad will mess up the line endings, and the edited files won't work. Personally I use Notepad++ for this sort of thing: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ (it has highlighting to make life easier when editing files - just set the language to XML when you have opened the XMLYT file)
